Webgains expands to Spain to target 'Complacent Networks' by Matthew Wood

Posted in Affiliate Marketing on 28/05/2008 at 10:04am

Webgains, a division of ad pepper media International N.V. and one of the fastest growing affiliate marketing networks in Europe, today announced the opening of offices in Spain.

Based in Madrid, Webgains Spain will be headed up by Iñigo Abrisqueta, Managing Director of ad pepper media and Webgains Spain. The account management team will be headed up by Jorge Martinez. Martinez joins from Tradedoubler Spain and has also worked in a sales capacity at MSN Spain. The sales function will be managed by Angel Canovas, who joins from software company Inosat.

The Spanish digital market is seeing exponential growth with investment for online media in 2008 predicted to be over 700 million euros. Investment in online media increased by 55% in the last year, (IAB Spain,’ Internet Advertising Report 2007’). Pan European affiliate networks which operate in the Spanish market include TradeDoubler and Zanox.

Commenting on opening the Spanish office Iñigo Abrisqueta, Managing Director of ad pepper media and Webgains Spain said, “The Spanish digital space market has a wealth of big advertisers such as Ebay, Dell and Vodafone to name a few, however only 10% of the affiliate market potential is being tapped into. Bigger networks have become complacent in terms of the service they offer and new product developments for the local market. There is a real opportunity for us to come in and shake up the status quo. We have an aggressive recruitment plan in place and are already in talks with several interested advertisers.”

Webgains Managing Director, Robert Glasgow, commented, "When ad pepper announced 2007 results last month Webgains was cited as a key in the growth strategy, the opening of our Spanish office is just another stepping stone in our global expansion. Last month we launched a localised platform in Ireland and now Spain, in the next six months we opening further offices in exciting new markets. More and more advertisers are demanding global affiliate marketing reach and we are rapidly expanding to meet this need.”
