You&amp;rsquo;ve probably seen ads in Google appear on sequential searches which relate to your previous search activity. 

This is a form of re-targeting - A second crack at the whip to convince you to consider the message and related product or service sometimes also known as re-marketing or re-messaging.

Similar to Google some Affiliate Networks which have mass control of CPM and other Display advertising are already re-targeting traffic gained from all sources whether derived from search, email, CPM, viral or Affiliate Marketing - this is not a new phenomenon.

This is easily done by tracking user behaviour and displaying ads based on their previous click or viewing history.

		      <description>It dawns on me that Febuary 2009 will see the 10th anniversary of my Murdermysterygames.co.uk affiliate program. It's not very big... this morning I paid my quarterly affiliate commissions out to the 10 affiliates that produced last quarter... but they account for several thousands of pounds contributing to the bottom line, so I wouldn't laugh too much. It's an independent program so:

    I don't pay any network fees
    The affiliates aren't generally competing against each other (They are all over the world, with quite different business models)
    I can generally manage the program on half a day's work every three months
