It looks like I've arrived in the right place (don't shout if I haven't .
Five years ago a number of eCommerce freelances got together to open a new eCommerce organisation called JSWeb that specialises in helping business startups to setup and start selling online with ease.
We all specialise in Zen Cart and have now grown to provide our services (Zen Cart design and hosting) to clients around the globe.
You can read more about JSWeb at http://www.jsweb.co.uk
We have also setup an affiliate scheme which is starting to grow; allowing FREE sign up and payments following referrals for our hosting plans. Again more information can be read at http://www.jsweb.co.uk/zen-cart-hosting-affiliate-scheme-c-20_34.html
(Feel free to provide any feedback on our affiliate scheme and what it offers e.g. Should we be setting up our own discussion or are we in the right spot to discuss with you guys further.)
Also while I am here I'm going to read more profile information - perhaps we can help one annother further.

I would like all of you to share ideas on what would you actually track on an eCommerce website? Normally we track customers, sales, referrals and search bots.. Tracking is definitely a big problem mainly for merchants and i have found several lekages with in the whole scenrio of tracking an eCommerce website. I have also tried to install two different tracking analytics software on a website and they still produce different results. What do you say?
I never thought that contact lenses were geeky! I wear glasses and thought they were far geekier?!?
I used to think that being a geek was a bad thing (all the usual stereotypes of someone who never goes out, has no life etc) but I actually agree with Jess nowadays and see it as a badge of honour. Intelligence is a very underrated thing!
I think being a geek means going out of your way to get a better understanding of something.
A lot of people go through life taking things for granted, they don't want to know how things are made, they don't want to learn new things or seek out new information unless it's given to them on a plate.
Of course being a geek and learning all this new stuff can take its toll on your social life...but I think it's possible to have a balance you should give it a try Adeel
The aim of the group is to share ideas, thoughts and recommendations on eCommerce websites and technolgies. It may include website design, virtual warehousing, web services, usability and how technology can be used effectively to improve all aspects of eCommerce businesses. The best example i always explore is Amazon.
What is a Geek?
I consider myself as an eCommerce geek. I have been involved in website design and promotions for nearly 7 years - did bsc, msc in ecommerce and then working as a developer etc. Geek ummm i think Nadeem would agree with me that i am always working and its just about 14 hours a day - 7 days a week.. thats what makes me a geek who is very serious (to the extent of being crazy) about his work.
I normally get comments from mates like U need a life, U need to go out, U need a girl friend bla bla. These are not SO true attributes of a geek..
Well, that was my definition of being a Geek.. Nadeem may call it passion of work (just to make is sound better).
Ideas? Collaboration with projects? Technology? Marketing? General internet stuff.
Id like to start with a Topic for discussion
Aimed at the group.
What is a geek?
My ambition in life (seriously) is to be referred to as a geek some day, the day this happens, Ill go on holiday and celebrate, it would be the biggest compliment any one has ever paid me, lol
So what constitutes being a geek (no dictionary definitions, your own personal thoughts please
- affiliates can issue voucher codes, discount deals, new merchants and contents direct to user desktop
- merchants can inform their customers about latest offers and discounts and news
- merchants can communicate directly with their affiliates instead of sending them boring emails (i consider most of them boring becuase they are not personilsed)
it would be useful to integrate RSS into the widget or simply design seperate database for personilsed contents.
have you seen website made by Venda? i am quite a fan of their websites and technology. They came down to pitch for the business at my last work place but didnt win because it didnt exactly fit into the internal adminstation system. We tried Netsuite but finally ended up spending huge amounts of money with Microsoft Navision (changed to Microsoft Dynamics). It is quite an expensive for a small and i would say even for a medium size company but it was the brand and customer services which convinced the bosses to sign the deal...

Nice to meet you all,
Please let me know If I can be of any service in the area of combating Spyware or other Online Nasties.
have you ever tried designing a widget? i am looking for some tutorials these days such as http://www.widgipedia.com/forum/read.php?3,123 which can be used in many ways.
- affiliates can issue voucher codes, discount deals, new merchants and contents direct to user desktop
- merchants can inform their customers about latest offers and discounts and news
- merchants can communicate directly with their affiliates instead of sending them boring emails (i consider most of them boring becuase they are not personilsed)
it would be useful to integrate RSS into the widget or simply design seperate database for personilsed contents.
any ideas please share?
