There is nothing I love more than music. I'd like for this to be a place where people can introduce new music to each other, and hopefully share some of their own creations as well.
Got 3 free tickets tonight to see this guy in Camden...

Anyone been to any good gigs recently? Saw the concretes as they rounded up their UK tour in glasgow at Tut's. They were pretty good - and considering I was in a stinking mood on Monday, a nice dose of Swedish pop is just what I needed. They did sing 'can't hurry love' which makes me smile http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=np7TlcXSYyw
Went to go see Sparklehorse last night here in Glasgow at the Oran Mor - and although you wouldn't think it judging by the music and the fact that a lot of the songs were slowed down, it was a really good gig! And Mark Linkous signed my ticket as he was sitting in the bar - WOOO! The songs were great, he's awesome live, and the crowd were a mixed lot and pretty good (i.e. no fights for me). I'd definitely go see them again!
I use Last.fm sometimes - not as often as I should, mostly because I listen to Radio 6 online (I lost the battle for the radio - sigh, oh well at least now it's on Radio 2 as opposed to 1 and Virigin Radio - EURGH!)
Impossible task - kind of like asking one to choose top 5 pairs of shoes they own! Eep! My lists are very changeable and dependent on my mood - last week I went through a wicked early - mid '90's fest and just digging up songs on youtube. This week - it's late '70's and a lot of Bowie and Joy Division.
Hmmm, too difficult to choose so I think I'll go have a cookie instead.
Always an enjoyable yet impossible task. My 3 favorite albums as of this particular second:
1. Phish - Hampton Comes alive (ok, so its 6 CDs, but theyre all in the same box )
2. Pretty much any R.E.M. album, but I'll go with 1983's Murmur
3. RHCP - Blood Sugar Sex Magik
And while I'm here, even if you dont particularly like Jazz (I don
t), you must check out Avishai Cohen's Continuo. This is an absolute masterpiece!
When it comes to insane female leads surely no one comes close to Courtney Love.
Completely obvious idea I know but would people list their fave 3 albums of all time, heres mine;
Spiritualized-Ladies And Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space
Jeff Buckley-Grace
Wu Tang Clan-36 Chambers
1.Aerosmith / "Rocks" - its what got me into music in the first place and is a classic
2. Saves The Day / "Stay what you are" - there is not a bad track on this album, if you haven't heard of them then i suggest you give this album a listen. Some samples here
3. Green Day / "Insomniac" - its fast and furious and my fav. album from them.
Went to see CSS at the Barrowlands a few weeks ago - really good live! I love seeing bands that just go nuts on stage! They're pretty good in the insane female singer genre but still not a patch on the fab Karen O
You have probly all heard of them but if you havent please check out CSS (Cansei de Ser Sexy). They are simply amazing even though I dont usually listen to their type of music.
Listening to The Wannadies You and Me Song on YouTube. It's a brilliant song and is just the thing on a bleak and grey Glasgow day. May even follow it up with a bit of The La's. YAY YouTube! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4D5N0vqFXw
Sublime, 9 Days, Midtown, A Wilhelm Scream, Strung Out, Maximo Park, The Magic Numbers, Fastball, Less Than Jake, The Who, Jimmy Eat World, Third Eye Blind.
Basically anything that is fast enough to keep me awake in the car in the morning
1990's - see you at the lights. Cheery indie pop like early Supergrass mixed with ELO.
Nine Inch Nails - God Given - imagine Trent Reznor doing SexyBack by Justin Timberlake. if there are dance mixes they will be *awsome*
Switches - like a new T-rex
Kaiser Chiefs - We Are the Angry Mob - it will be the tune of the summer festivals. Oh yes.
I'm getting hooked on Paddy Casey - his album Living is just great. Got an Irish feel to it. Check out in particular his songs Livin', Saints & Sinners, and Stumble.
I'll start with a recommendation. 3 completely different albums by John Fruiscante, the great Red Hot Chili Peppers guitar player.
Pregnant women and people who suffer form high blood pressure should not get near "Niandra Lades and usually just a T Shirt", his sick, drug filled 1994 album. But underneath all that is a beautiful, melodic album. "To Record only Water for 10 Days" is a masterpiece, with John playing most of the instruments and filling the rest with electronic effects and sounds, and "Shadows Collide with People" is just an unbelievably good Rock album. Check it out!
