Yorkshire and Lancashire

Hi,

I'm Sinead and have just joined Nadeem and his team at Azam Marketing as Head of Affiliate Management.

Being from Oldham I consider myself a true northerner! I can always be tempted by a decent portion of chips and gravy and I love a good old Sunday roast topped off with a big Yorkshire pudding!

I look forward to catching up with you all soon at the next get-together.

I live in South Cheshire but was born in Yorkshire, so I hope that qualifies me to join this group lol!

Future get togethers in Manchester would be extremely convenient for me and I imagine a lot of other Cheshire based folk so I'm particularly keen to join for this reason amongst others. Somehow I don't think a Cheshire group on its own would have many members (but I may be wrong!)

I'm very much an affiliate newbie but have a lot of SEO, IT and website experience, so I hope this will help counter some of the green mistakes I'm bound to make. Please be gentle with me if I drop any clangers!

nice write up Nadeem - it was a good evening, just wish we could have made it earlier as I really enjoy smaller gatherings and talking to like minded folk, certainly hope to meet up with Stu and Ray again - so count us in for any future G2G in the region - and thanks to PrimeQ for organising it and shall be keeping a close eye on their programmes in the future

I would like to thank everybody for coming along to the gathering in Leeds (and a big thanks to PrimeQ for sponsoring it). It was a wonderful opportunity to meet up with affiliates and agencies in and around Yorkshire.

I hope somebody will be able to organise another one in Yorks/Lancs, because I really enjoyed this one.

Was reading an opinion piece the other day in which they suggested that, for a multitude of reasons, the capital should be relocated from London to the north of the country. Their particular suggestion was to move it to York.

York has got the history, but, without considerable expansion (which would destroy the place) it has not got the infrastructure to copy with hundreds of politicians and journalists etc. But it did set me thinking about places like Leeds or Manchester.

What do people think? What would make a good capital city?

Just seen images of the destruction in Sheffield and in the area. Feel so sorry for the people. Hope no one here has been affected.

It's finally here! North of England Affiliate Gathering at Firefly, Leeds on 5 July

The affiliate marketing community has often complained about the lack of events ‘up norf’ and so I've organised an affiliate get2gether in Leeds on Thursday, 5 July.

It will take place at Firefly which has been called “one of the most stylish and sophisticated venues in Leeds” (Clubzone.com). The trendy city centre lounge/bar/restaurant, with stunning interior schemes, is on the fringes of the financial quarter.

The network I consult for, PrimeQ, have booked a large room and it will be an ideal opportunity for people in the industry to get together in an informal atmosphere, chat and enjoy drinks. Appetizers will be provided by PrimeQ and there will be live jazz.

Vincent Montero, PrimeQ's Director of UK Operations, will be on hand to answer any questions about the network's exciting new affiliate platform or anything else PQ related.

Everybody is welcome to turn up: affiliates, agencies, merchants, network staff – you can even bring along your mother if you like!

Several people have expressed an interest in coming and if you are planning to attend, let me know by firing off a quick email to nazam AT primeq.co.uk or in this group just so we can get an idea of the numbers and who to expect.

It's going to be an ideal opportunity to network and have fun, so see you there :-)

As regards (1), I'd have to say "daft" - it's such a unique word. And, as for (2), I'll leave that to braver folk :-)

Good to see some meeting that will be held a bit closer that Scotland or London! I am not very good at travelling but will have make a big effort to get to one of them as I have never been to a A4U get together yet! … and I don’t hold any grudges over you Yorkshire folk!

We are planning to have our first ever gathering in Leeds in a few weeks and everybody will be welcome (even if they are outside these counties). If anybody has got suggestions for an easily-accessible venue near the station, please let me know :-)
