  MySQL on Windows Server

I have MySQL running on IIS6 - it refuses to take any connections when started up as a normal service. It just hangs up and does nothing.

When I start with the --console switch from a command line it seems to work and allows me to connect and browse data using local GUI tools (SQLYog) on the server itself.

I am thinking it's some sort of permissions / security type issue but can't figure it out at all.

I have tried MySQL reinstall but even trying different builds I am having the same issues. I have also had issues with the install from the Essentials install files (tried 2 different builds) in that it hangs on the APply Security Settings bit at the end.

If not permissions I was wondering if there is some hangover I need to clear out from previous install?

Any ideas?!

Chris.
