Easy Content Units is the perfect name for this initiative - there's plenty of options for customisation and you can have them set up and on a site in a couple of minutes.

I signed up a fortnight ago and I've been hugely impressed with the suppport from John and Jason - they get back to you really quickly via the site ticket system and are extremely receptive to suggestions on ways to improve the current beta version, which to be honest isn't a million miles away from being the finished article.

I've suggested two things already which I thought would be useful and they were on the case immediately - instead of just having 'BUY NOW' buttons on product descriptions I asked for 'READ MORE' and 'MORE INFO' options on the basis I felt some visitors might feel they were committing themselves to a purchase after reading only a few words of description on a given product - a couple of days later John and Jason had the requested buttons in place.

Similarly I've asked for content units which feature a large number of products (20 or more) to have a NEXT/PREVIOUS option so sets of about 10 or so can all be viewed on one page without having a huge unit which involves extensive scrolling on the page - yes, you've guessed it, they're working on it now and it should be in place as soon as they've completed the mammoth task of integrating Amazon into the system.

These content units really are ideal for someone like me who is comfortable designing sites and adding unique content etc - but a total wally when it comes to integrating product feeds etc - thankfully Easy Content Units is a great way for me to embrace that side of things with very limited technical skills.

I've got a couple of sites under construction at the moment which will feature several content units and should be live in a few days time - it would have been a few weeks time if I'd been resorting to my previous methods of adding products/descriptions from the various affiliate networks.

Anyway, I give the venture a definite thumbs up and reckon the ease with which the units can be set up merits consideration by some of the newcomers who've been inspired to launch sites as a result of Smingle's legendary call to action eleswhere on this forum.

I was a bit worried by the last two posts, having just expressed my support for ECU - I've just checked my sites and the units seem to be working fine, plus the ECU site itself is OK - maybe the gremlins were on the loose tonight?

It's a bit of a long shot, but would it be possible to select products where Amazon is the seller, rather than their 3rd party sellers ?

    Hi Daniel,

I've just had a quick word with "those more technical than me", and they reckon it shouldn't be a problem, so we'll add it to the wishlist.

btw, am I the only one who wishes you could filter marketplace items out of Amazon's site (as a shopper rather than affiliate) - The amount of times I've found the ideal product, only to find that it's gonna cost me an extra £5 to have it delivered cos it's on Marketplace - They buggered up my Christmas shopping last year as there were so many different marketplace transactions that my credit card provider thought it was fraud (as each transaction is processed seperately, but at the exact same time)

    But anyway, I digress...

    Thanks. That would be excellent.

I'm certainly with you on the filtering. Also, there are some marketplace sellers I'd be happy to buy from, but even more that I wouldn't touch with a bargepole.

Still, can't complain too much. Amazon converts well and will continue to do so I guess.

I totally agree with this as both an affiliate and a customer, it is so much more straight forward buying directly from amazon. I also agree that it would be a nice feature to be able to remove the marketplace from the Easy Content Units, which is a great service by the way.

    Thanks.

I totally agree with you. Before christmas I spent some time finding the cheapest place to buy the chrimbo present I wanted from the Mrs which turned out to be Amazon, sent her over the link (aff link of course) and told her it was the cheapest place to get it. She buys it and I later find out that she had paid nearly double the price as amazon had it because she didn't know about the marketplace and amazon was out of stock for a couple of days so she just bought it thinking it was cheap.

Congrats to you both John and Jason. A brilliant piece of kit for any affiliate.

I may even give them a try myself!

    Hi John,

I was just wondering if there was a way of blocking my IP Address so I don't contribute the impression stats on the content units, when I am previewing my site etc. Its no big deal but if there is one there and I have missed it then I might as well use it.

    Thanks.

    Hi Warren,

That's not possible at the moment, however we will be upgrading the stats shortly to provide more information, so I'll see if we can include this feature at the same time.

    Cheers,

    John
