well i was away in australia when this first came about in janurary so its only the bump thats made me spot this thread - bums, missed the 90/10 split!!!

its sounds like the boys have done really well 1. with the initial idea but 2. everyones wishes etc being implemented - its come a long way in the last few months!!

does anyone have success stories or some general stats to show how well the units are working for people?

i guess we never find out if ECU's affiliate links convert sales do we

good luck guys, i'll sign up soon! i have some blu ray dvd players to try and shift this year.........

Ah sod it,......cant find it....what's the ECU twitter user?

Just starting to implement ECU's onto a work-in-progress site so looking forward to seeing whether they'll convert for me.

I'm still wondering whether I'm positioning them correctly on my site for good conversion but I guess it'll be a case of try-it-and-see. Loving the flexibility of the ECU's and the layout options.....saves some serious amounts of time for content, especially Price Comparison.

Will be interesting to hear how others are getting on....some stats, and I'll be sure to paste some info once the site is live.

Thanks to the ECU guys.....brilliant idea, implimention and support.

That would be good info. I have used them on some of my sites but I think I am doing something wrong either on their layout/formatting or where I am putting them (or maybe just a crap niche).

It sure has come a long way - it's barely recognisable from the system we beta launched in January (and our alpha testers who worked on it from October 2008 will testify that the beta version was light years ahead of what they started with!)

Jason collated some stats the other day here (average 10% CTR anybody?), but clearly we don't get to see affiliates sales stats, so can't vouch for their conversion rates or CPMs. Our own test showed marked increases in conversion (twice that of the ads that we replaced with ECUs), and the conversion rates we're seeing on our 20% revshare links are very, very high for a number of merchants.

Jason's in control of the Twitter account @EasyContentUnit, or you can ping me @lammo77

Happy to have a look at your positioning, layout, choice of products etc if you like - The ECU's are designed to maximise your clickthrough and conversion rates, so we'll do what we can to help that along!

Have to give Jason the credit for the support - He's more technically minded than me, so able to understand the support tickets lol - He is gaining a hell of a reputation for the support though - I think his record response time is something like 27 seconds!

One example is Slow Cooker Reviews and Price Comparison Information which is on the showcase page. I've just now changed the buttons from your ones to my custom 'more info' button.

This one isnt ranked well in Google but I have others like it using the same format.

    Thanks.

They look pretty good - I'd perhaps center the unit within the posts. I'm not sure about those "more info" buttons (they don't read very well on my monitor), and I think you need to add a decent call to action - rather than just display prices, tell people to click on them!

You can add a title to each ECU, along the lines of "Breville VTP036 Prices - Click to buy" or a more subtle "The Breville VPT036 can be bought from the following online stores:", being sure to match up your title to be the same size/colour as your h1 tags.

I'd also add a tall (1 column by 5 or 6 rows) of slow cookers to your sidebar - show product images and prices, use seperator bars, load it with as many cookers as you can find from a variety of merchants and set to display random products. - This one won't convert anywhere near as well, but helps to cross sell those looking for a cheaper/bigger/smaller/better quality/different colour cooker than the one on the page they happen to be on.

Thinking along the same lines, you could also create units to cross sell other cookers from a particular manufacturer. So create a unit with all the Breville cookers, and add title "Other Slow Cookers from Breville", with products images and prices. Again set to random, and You could then add that unit to every post with a breville product. Rinse and repeat for Kenwood, Morphy Richards, Tefal etc.

lol, no worries mate - I'm just as excited!

It's a straight subscription fee, which gets you full access to all pro features, and yup, it's for unlimited units!

I really like ECU and can't wait for the pro version too but my only gripe is that it can be extremely slow sometimes. I have 50mb broadband so I know it's not from my end.

Is this something that you are aware of and are there any plans to try and speed it up a bit?

    Thanks

Aye, we will be looking to streamline the system in the future - at the moment we're focused on getting all the features loaded, which can be a little resource hungry at peak times. We can then look at more efficient ways of working so that we can speed things up.

Thanks for that, will get to work. Just realised I had my tracking ID for affiliate window entered incorrectly - no wonder I hadnt made any sales through them! Oh well, I've only been signed up for a few months :cry

I've added the call to action text saying 'Click on the lowest price to get the best deal on this slow cooker:'. I couldnt add it to the ECU as it changed the formatting too much.

I have also changed the button to have black text which I hope makes it easier to read.

Just doing the other ECUs now.
