Another month, another lousy payout from AF and another complaint. I get a pathetic £161.93 on a balance of £1,654.39 (9.7%) this month.

Last month it was £366.77 on a balance of £1,906.56 (19%) and a written promise to chase late payments.

Support tickets are answered politely with promises to chase late payments but nothing seems to be done. While monthly payouts are so poor all AF merchants get the poorest slots on my sites.

Consequently Commission Junction merchants now outsell AF merchants nearly 5:1 and will continue to do so until AF can sort out this mess. CJ, by the way, pays an average 67% of monthly balances. While AF payouts are so poor, AF merchants can all go hang.

First step, find out who your account manager is.

Then request a screenshot of the actual information so you can see which merchants have payments pending on your account and which merchants have payment allocated on your account

Match this up to your account by going back through previous months working out which merchants earned you what in each month. If it doesn't match up 100%, check which merchants have had promotions on with 1-100 users at (x) amount, followed by 101-150 users at (y) amount. etc

Any merchants that haven't paid within say 4 months, start kicking up a fuss about and get hold of those merchant managers and ask them to look into why you haven't been paid from them since " date xxxx "

If someone has emailed you about chasing late payments, email them back and request an update on it and do this weekly until you get a positive result. Make sure all emails sent high importance and with request delivered/read receipts on them

PS - I know it is frustrating but this method has worked for me since Jan 2011 and I've kept on top of it since.

So, have you emailed them back asking why you haven't received payment after you were promised it ?

    Hi Richard,

I'd be interested to see the payment alert, please email me directly.
I have just checked your affiliate account and the funds allocated presently does not clear our minimum payment threshold.

Yeah, opened support ticket still no reply

Yes I have reached enough for payment! Some of the These transactions have been outstanding from March and the remaining from June/July time. I was emailed by Joanna on the 13/10/2011 telling me that the money was promised this month!

Please answer my support ticket and check the replies from Joanna

    > Opened support ticket

Ahh, what you need to do in future is keep all email correspondence. The moment someone sends you one saying "you will be paid" or any variation .. KEEP IT.

As soon as the payment date has passed or what they have promised not turn up .. Click REPLY on their email, high priority it, request read/deliver receipt and ask them what is happening on your account as whatever they said would happen, hasnt happened

Many thanks for the advice. I'd already asked AF for the information but have not yet received it.

I know who the culprit is - a notoriously late payer who has now, so I understand, just settled the bill for August! A merchant who, as it happens, is sponsoring an AF event (that must be a coincidence).

This late payment fiasco has been going on all year so I've now dropped the merchant from my sites until I get paid. Fortunately other merchants have taken up the lost sales so they (and AF) are the only losers.

I'm sure your advice is good and it seems to work for you but it seems an awful lot of effort checking and chasing up payment - I think I'll promote merchants from rival outfits like Commission Junction, Affiliate Window etc, sell their stuff and pocket the commission each month - it really is that simple, if only AF would take note.
