I have to apologise perhaps for the way i worded this, however maybe this might help as well.
My concern was not of a mobile phone dealer but that of an affiliate, i have no regard for whether or not a mobile phone dealer stays or goes, but to restate my point "many go" not stay.
The economics "suggest" that this will not stay and i would hope that it isnt another poke in the eye of what is a good affiliate network.
Affiliate networking is a great way of really installing a permanent web site on the net (ie not here one minute, gone the next) and as long as you keep affiliates happy, work with them and pay them then even if a better deal comes out or whatever, if you have been honest, hard working and offered good support then generally people dont wonder away from what is good for them.
However, if you look at the backlash from other mobile phone retailers not paying because of bankruptcy etc, then it makes it harder and harder for mobile phone dealers to install a confidence that their scheme will work.
There are good mobile affiliate schemes that have been around in business for a long time, but if you look at them they pay a lot less money for only conirmed sales.
Having said all of this i see that many want to assume that a "retailer" has "lower" overheads and "higher" commissions, but after the huge amount of mobile phone businesses that have gone under this last year (especially orange dealers). It is naive to disregard what i was saying in blind faith.
I have kept names of companies out of this and not mentioned other schemes that i feel are much more solid (from a mobile phone dealers point of view) because it was nothing to do with a disliking or a competition point of view. It was from an affiliate point of view and not wanting to see other affiliates get burned as so many have.
Sure if it pays then promote it, but if you expected not to get paid knowing that a mobile phone dealer can not support this type of marketing for so long then no one gets hurt right?
