    Hi All,

Was going through one of the mobile phone affiliate site and saw got to know that they are using the following script code to hide the affiliate code. Is it ok to use the same or is there any catch...

    <a target='_blank' onMouseOver="window.status='http://www.mobileshop.com/mobile-phones/o2/contract-mobile-phones/motorola-l6.php/pnewo2mol60002'; return true;" onMouseOut="window.status=' '; return true;" href='http://scripts.affiliatefuture.com/AFClick.asp?affiliateID=XXXXX&merchantID=XXXXX&pro grammeID=XXXXX&mediaID=0&tracking=&url=http://www.mobileshop.com/mobile-phones/o2/contract-mobile-phones/motorola-l6.php/pnewo2mol60002'>Click here for more details</a>

Please revert and put some light onto it.

P.S- Attached is the picture featuring the same.

    Thanks,
    Mike...

The prob with affiliate links is the redirects not "affiliate link" per se

If a redirect is not done "correctly" google gets the dolls on. Hence, you hide the link so googlebot cannot see the redirect thru td/whoever to merchant

I'm sick of telling networks how to combat, but hey, they take no notice.

If google spots the bad redirect you have had it, end of. Use adwords..like they want you to.

One guy is using this to good effect, the td link is shown but direct to td, the actual click-thru link is js to merchant. A real masterpiece and hold my hat up to. He has fooled googlebot this particular time, how long it will last who knows?

    dont make sense to me

the td link is shown (yes im with you ) but direct to td (erm all TD links goto TD)

the actual click-thru link is js to merchant (erm cant be has to go through TD to track) although if your saying a visitor can only see the merchant link well great but its still leaving the TD link shown as youve said so defeats the point dont you think

the best way is a DB ... trying to hid afilli links by placing said links in the actuall document isnt the solution as you may be able to hide them from a real person but bots dont care they like to read the stuff real ppl dont see

And tbh theres lots of site that hide links and dont hide links and they seem to be getting the same sort of SE results whats more important is the actuall site content imoa

I don't think you should have any problem with doing this.
