Compensation

The downtime this morning, whilst not a failure of our own systems directly, affected the tracking of sales due to the widespread inability of tracking calls to traverse the Level 3 network and access our systems.
We have issued compensation for the downtime that occurred this morning, and this will show up on your 'My Accounts' page as 'AffiliateFuture Goodwill Bonus'. The compensation is calculated as the average of the earnings for the period of the downtime (6:05am -> 11:40am) for the previous day and the same day last week. We find this is the fairest way to estimate what the earnings would have been for the period of downtime.
It is difficult to form a contingency against a complete failure of one of the UK's major backbone providers. While we have a large amount of resilience in built into our systems, there are always improvements that can be made and we will of course be evaluating our procedures on an ongoing basis to minimise disruption in the future.
