Ive been tasked with the job of finding the best Network for www.hairofthedog.co.uk to work with. No problem I thought.....think again. Each of the networks pitch seem good as do their skills in slating the opposition. So on the whole who should I use ? Thanks

    Hi Hairofthedog

Well I would duck the issue here by saying its horses for courses but that's not quite true. We only offer our services in the UK so wanted affiliate networks that focused on the UK. Buy.at seems to work well for us.

My boss then tasked me with finding another network to balance it out as he felt they might be a bit too small. Went for CJ after a pitch by AW and TD but the verdict is still out on that one.

Have a look on the Affiliate Network section for similar posts and comments about the advantages and disadvantages of individual networks.

Its a crying shame that any of the networks should need to undermine the opposition, if they have full belief in their own product there would be no need for this.

If you do a search there are a few threads about which networks affiliates prefer to work with (don't forget though webgains and affili.net are probably not listed on these as these are relatively new networks).

I guess you will be able to narror it down based on how much you are able or want to pay out to get set up.

I don't think you would go far wrong with using affiliate Future, Affiliate Window, Buy.at, PaidOnResults. I've not used affili.net yet and only done a bit via webgains but Ryan there has been very helpfull for the bit I have done.

    Cheers

    Hi Wardy....

For this site I would do a quick competitor analysis.... the market is very saturated and the top dating sites have heavily invested in PPC and SEO and traditional advertising. So the model they have will need to be very different in what they offering. That said and done, if they are still intent with setting up an affiliate program, their commissions will have to be a wee bit higher and conversions a wee bit higher to compete. One thing I pitch to my clients is that they should look at the ASPs as software providers only, anything else they get is a bonus. Re network.... I would place them where there are other dating sites, this is if only their offer is more lucrative for affiliates. Remember to haggle with the networks re set up costs
