When beginning an affiliate program that is self created and managed, what are the first steps you should take to promoting this affiliate program? Does anyone have any tips/ideas? Anything appreciated!

The ones you can find. If you can find them so can other people.
It's been a while since I did this so the sites will have changed. Reminds me, I should do it again.
