This is my first post here, so forgive me if this has been covered to death already. I've had a quick search but couldn't find anything relevant that was less than a couple of years old.
Basically, we're looking at setting up an affiliate scheme for Chinwag Jobs. I've had a quick scout of the networks available and I'm having difficult justifying the cost of an affiliate network compared to using one of the many scripts available.
It seems the natural order of the networks is that they're affiliates are mainly focused on B2C, which makes sense for the majority of merchants. However, we operate in a very specific vertical market and have to be very choosy about the sites that we work with, so I'm thinking that the network effect for us, will have to be generated through our rather hefty contacts books directly.
I realise we might miss out on some of the advice from the affiliate networks, and possible their software may have more features.. but above this - I'd love to hear views on which way merchants have gone in sorting out their solutions.
Thanks in advance for any feedback, it'll be much appreciated.
