    Hi everyone!!!

You could simlpy answer my question " Affiliates want highest commissions, patient merchants & qualitative affiliate network."

If you have another point of view - just let me know.

I'm dealing with several affiliates networks, but the scenario of affiliate's activity is the same: 15% of joined affiliates are active, others are like sleeping beauties - waiting for something. I offered them cash bonuses for sales, upgraded commissions - but they are still sleeping.

Does anybody know the prescription of affiliates' awakening?

I'll be thankful for your comments, brothers & sisters - affiliate managers.

pick them off one by one like a well trained sniper, get a list of your inactives, break them down into groups of 10 and make time each day to work through contacting them all with individual targets.

sending out a network wide email saying do 5 sales and well give you £50 will literally p*ss money up the wall, which from time to times fun, raises the profile and rewards everyone. but chances are you'll just be rewarding your current affiliates for doing their good job - like I said fine but you dont want to run at a loss long term.

pick out someone whos not done anything, offer them £50 for doing 5 sales, tell them how, tell them your best product, tell them if they're putting banners in places that wont work. If someone sticks a banner on a page and says 'done' tell them thats not good enough! Be prepared to lose to get them started, force them to make that first sale and see how addictive it is!

... then once they get good they'll screw you over and promote someone else

I can't believe you just said that!
...then you will need to continue building their trust and push them on to the next level, surely?

    said half in jest hero!

loyalty can be built, but it usually takes a few link changes before it is. Affiliates are, understandably always looking for the best deal. So you can work and work and work to help someone get their first sale, it builds to 10 sales, another merchant offers an extra 2% commission and the affiliate gives them a go.

    Cant blame them

New merchant doesnt offer support, doesnt convert, something usually isnt quite there from the previous relationship and the affiliate goes back to the origional merchant.

Affiliates change links, its usually down to commission or money its just how it works, some affiliates are in it to build a relationship some are in it for the money, some a mix.

    Thanks guys.

I raised commissions for that 40% for all affilaites. Try to follow you advice Dan:
"break them down into groups of 10 and make time each day to work through contacting them all with individual targets"
(you know - I have more than 800 affilaites on CJ - so it would be a hard work).

Affiliates like where is a lot of fish on shallow water.

So their activity depends on offered bait.

We must be creative in our incentives program to be valuable for our affiliates.

Affiliates like free gifts as incentive. Even if they make a lot of money already

Individual targets though doesn't mean kicking them off because they don't do anything...

I think one of the problems is that given the time it takes to get approved, affiliates tend to just sign up to loads of programs, and then see which ones they get approved on first. They probably then forget about the others.

It's just a fact of life people sign up to stuff then forget about it. Sure, it'd be great if 100% of people that sign up for something follow through with it, but it's probably more like 20% in general...
