    Wow - what fantastic prizes!

Would have been nice to buy tickets even though we couldn't attend

Surprised you only got £1k, I bet the prizes were worth far more than that!

Nice going for a excellent cause - wish I could have contributed too.

Good point. 17 prizes at an average retail of £150 each (altho some were higher) comes to £2,550. I know a few people who bought £20/£50/£100 worth of tickets which means even less were sold to individials.

Maybe next time we should have someone actively going round and asking people to buy tickets? Rather than waiting for people to approach the desk?

It's not that I think people weren't willing to buy them on the day. I think it's just that there was so much going on that some people will have forgotten. Obviously these things are easy to suggest in hindsight and I know that Matt, Helen and the guys had their hands full on the day.

First off that is great. Remember this is the 1st one of a kind (we weren't allowed last Christmas.... sorry.. lol). How about charging a £5 entry fee, and the £5 gets you a strip and entry? You can still give people the option of not having to pay, and you can still sell more on the day too?

Remember, its £1015 that the charity didn't have a couple of days ago, and when you look at it that way, anything is better than nothing. I raffled an IPOD the other week for a downsyndrome charity, and that raised less than what the IPOD was worth, but it still meant extra spondoolies they never had and they were over the moon with the extra cash.

Well done H and everyone who put up prizes or bought tickets

Perhaps the merchants should have donated the £2,550 directly to charity?

It's a shame the outstanding generousity of the merchants didn't all flow into a bit more cash for the charity. Looks like the affiliates attending benefitted more than the charity.

Anyway, like you correctly say, a very worthwhile charity is now over £1000 better off and the affiliates have also received a nice 'thank you' from the merchants.

Maybe next time forum members could contribute even if they can't come. With that fantastic list of prizes and great odds on winning coupled with the fact that all the cash goes to charity I'd have certainly stumped up £100 given the chance.

Get people as they walk in, it always works. Don't give them time to think about it and they won't think twice about diving in their pockets.

Ask Keiron suggested, walking around will always sell a few more 'strips'

Although my question was answered I left it too late to send my cheque down to Helen so I got Graham (Buyagift) to buy mine for me and I sent him a cheque instead. Just shows how great this forum is that there was a number of people who I was going to ask but Graham came online first
Shame I didn't win, although I notice Graham did

Yep, and thankfully it was very well organised so there was no chance of cheating
