Would be well up for this - would also like to take the wife and kids and have a nice family weekend away..
Hi
I was chatting to James A. about cycling and the New Forest and we thought what a great idea it would be to have a weekend of fun in the Forest. We have come up with the weekend of 22nd and 23rd of September.
Something like this....
Saturday afternoon - Treasure Hunt around the forest - I've done a few of these over the years, thought one for cyclists and one for cars - will be looking for some prizes though!
Saturday night - what do you fancy? I can get a band at one of the local pubs, help with payment for this from anyone would be cool - although I may be able to convince the pub to pay something...
Sunday morning - Horse riding for those that fancy it.
Sunday lunch - cocktails at The Star Inn - famous session locally, and they will do some affiliate cocktails for us - I already asked ;-) The Star Inn Bed and Breakfast - Ringwood, New Forest, East Dorset, West Hampshire (they also have the nicest rooms in town.)
Sunday afternoon - Roast dinner at The Fish Inn The Fish Inn - Ringwood - Good Beer, Great Hospitality - right on the banks of the Avon - quite lovely.
At the moment The Star has all 8 rooms available + slightly cheaper is The Original White Hart Room At The Inn Pubs & Hotels : The Original White Hart : Ringwood which is only next door.
Give me some feedback if you are up for it, and I'll start sorting out the treasure hunt :-)

Think they have a family room in The Hart James - if it is still free. Lovely place to bring the family.

Sounds brilliant - just the sort of thing I would really enjoy - don't know if we could make that weekend though - lots of things up in the air at the moment - houses, holidays etc - but if we can we'd certainly be there.

Hi
Looking for a little feedback on this to get an idea of perhaps how many peops might be about - post, mail or PM me.

PS - Anyone who can get the answer to the following - I will buy you a bottle of your choice if you come down for the weekend (within reason lol)
What is the connection between The Star - Ringwood and Doctor Who. Don't post the answer, wait until you get here - leave it a mystery lol....

Jenny,
Just a quick one - I think AF are doing an event in Manchester on the Friday, so were you planning on having people then too, or starting on Saturday.
Subject to details at either end, if there a few people wanting to do both, it might be worth thinking about car sharing, or possibly flying down to Southampton Saturday morning on James' favourite airline.
I am always up for anything involving two wheels, but really wouldn't mind just taking a nice long walk on Sunday morning before going to that pub you mentioned for some themed cocktails. Did we work out what the best affiliate cocktails would be?
Morning
I'm quite relaxed when people want to be about to be honest James, I'll be around. But probably actually plan stuff for the Saturday/Sunday. When it comes to a good walk, there are loads of places to have a glorious walk, either in the forest, or even over somewhere like Hurst Castle spit and get some sea air, that's only 20 mins away.
Anymore feedback from anyone else who might be interested?
The Star have offered to do a 'Steamboat' for us on Saturday, it's like an Eastern fondue style meal, where all the food is laid out raw and you cook your own in different stock pots. Sounds nice?
No takers on the question I posed then? The Star - Ringwood and Doctor Who, what's the connection? He he
