What, an event not sponsored by BA or TD?
Congrats on the anniversary mateI like your site. One of the very few 'affiliate' sites which is a genuinely valuable resource to surfers.
Flightmapping.com will be celebrating its fifth birthday in London on August 2. Naturally, we couldn't throw a party without a theme, so we are inviting our fellow affiliates to come dressed as their favourite underground station.
Whether you want to dress up as a clown with a gown (Oxford Circus), a party Queen (Victoria), or your favourite sporting star (Wembley Park, Wimbledon, etc), all attendees who stick to the theme will be given free drinks all night.
Grubby affiliates who are glad to find any clothes at all to put on after their monthly bath are also still welcome, but they will have to buy their own drinks, and pay all beer handling charges, glass washing fees, Ken Livingstone appreciation taxes, non-Oyster card usage surcharges, backside parking tolls, stair management allowances and sofa occupancy rates.
We will be kicking off at 3pm in the decidedly cavernous upstairs room at Bar Soho, 23 - 25 Old Compton St, London. You're more than welcome to join us after work - we have exclusive use of the room until 1am. The nearest tube is Oxford Circus.
There will be no networking and no name badges at the event, but there will be plenty of surprises, including a travel themed pub quiz, with DJ Kid Lewis (aka Flightmapping’s very own Dan Fell) and his partner in crime Paul ‘Craig’ White providing the tunes. We already have around 60 confirmed guests, so we can squeeze in about another 40 before it starts to get a bit crowded. So please move yourselves along the platform, and sign up on the A4U events page:

Will check with Ker when she comes back from Jordan and hopefully make it along James! Will there be Monopoly?!

Andrea,
I could tell you, but we are trying to breed a new kind of affiliate party here, so I don't want to give too much away.
Fiona, i'm sure it can be arranged. Aside from the stations, I think you have 7 other Monopoly properties you could choose from (but two might involve those dreaded clowns), not to mention jails, and of course the Bank.
Fair enough James,
I have spent 3 hours at the hairdresser getting my hair dyed to match my theme!
<-likes a fancy dress party!![]()
Excellent, am really looking forward to it. Will have to do a prize for the best "station" of the night - but I hope it isn't so good that you can't put in some moves to Lewis & Craig's DJ'ing.
The booby prize can be a tube ticket home.
We do have a small number of attendees who are getting into the theme - not sure how much I should reveal, but if anyone is stuck for inspiration, don't hesitate to ask.
Congrats on the 5 years James, a great achievement. I've heard a good outfit for fancy dress tube station style is "Shepherds Bush!"

Is that a declaration? I think we should say that if two people turn up with the same outfit, then the first one to arrive gets the free drinks.
Otherwise we might just have loads of blokes in DJs, and that's no real fun.
Ok, there's a thread here for anyone wanting fancy dress ideas:

Now we might already have a few Angels, we also need a Barbie to match with her natural partner. And will we have enough nuns & nurses to make Seven Sisters?
There are a few photos of another party which attempted this theme here. I think we can do better though:

No problem, I have ordered an outfit from there myself - I hope nobody Bugs me about what it is though - all will be revealed later on.
Mate, I'm really really proud of you. Sorry I can't be there, but have a good 'un tonight.
