Yep, Ill be there.
Its at the Savoy right?! Does that mean a strictly black tie affair or will I be able to get away with jeans?!

Seems to be a last minute cockup and its now changed to..
I have just been told The Venue has been changed last minute.
It is now being held here:
372 Strand, London, WC2R 0JJ
Telephone: +44 (0)20 7836 8080
Fax: +44 (0)20 7836 2077
The Strand Palace, Luxury Central London Accommodations
Thanks for the heads up Aquanuke - I wonder what happened?
Yeah, I'm wondering the same thing as Matt.
That email explaining the reason for the venue change, about nasty players in the domain name market forcing the move, was a bit of a shocker.
All very odd Nadeem - Still planning to go here - Anyone around tomorrow night fancy a catch up?
Will be there from Thursday morning about 11, till after the auction on Friday night.
Staying at Strand Palace
Cheers
Doug
Busy day cheers to everyone.
Of the 60 domains 19, sold, 21 had offers but did not sell in auction. 10 I believe sold afterwards. 20 had no offers mainly because the reserve was set too high for the audience.
I bought for £87,500.00 on behalf of ASAP Ventures Ltd who also operate Car Hire UK, Europe and Worldwide from Car Rentals UK and ASAP.co.uk, a travel comparator that is being built. Nice fit for their business. That was the biggest sale of the day
Regards
Doug

Good to meet you there Mat. Sorry I missed the rest of you!
I was intrigued to hear about the change of venue too. I heard a rumour that the Savoy had been contacted by some anonymous parties and encouraged not to allow the event to take place! I suspect this was only partly accurate however as I asked several people and noone really seemed to know what was going on.
What did you all think of the event?
I thought it was decent for the price but the last minute change of venue defnitely threw things out of whack; meaning that the first day was ... if Im honest ... shambolic and the second day was rushed.
Speakers and panels aside, it was great to be able to meet-up with come of the industry bigwigs however. I mean I, as an affiliating/domaining newb, got to speak to Mr Army.com, Mr Shopping.net, Mr Cameras.com and more! That alone was worth the entrance fee.![]()
there is some noise going on about this so I thought I would defend it:
£79 is absolutely nothing for 2 days, there is no way they could have made cash even with sponsorship.
There were so many of the players in the industry
It was the first one ever event and hence there were going to be teething problems
David some people dont like and he messed up some stuff, now he has gone.
About £500K worth of domains sold due directly and indirectly because of the event.
The networking was worth a fortune in itself.
Well done Alan for having the balls to stand up and be counted and setup the event.
If people keep wanting to get £79's back then I doubt anyone is going to run another one. Obvioulsy you can whinge and claim back your cash, but if you are going to do this then please go and setup an event yourself, I will be more than happy to turn up and pay you £79 for some great networking.
Doug
