I like a tagline directly under the logo, which instantly explains the site, e.g. "Major Perfume Brands at Discount Prices".

I am looking for some honest reviews of the site in my sig, Fragrance Zone. The business is now around 8 months old and during that time we have continued to stock a wider range of products and also optimize and improve the site and layout. We usually have new products coming in every two weeks, i am after some advice on how i can improve the conversion rate further, it is currently around 1.5% with an average basket of £28.

Hi,
Yeah a tagline is good, agree 100% with that, and thats also a great example.
First thing you are doing wrong, and its quite a big thing that will majorly improve your conversion rates in March. Visit these 2 URL's.
Fragrance Zone | Cheap Perfume Aftershave & Fragrances
Cheap perfume fragrances aftershave and cologne at discount prices from CheapSmells.com
What do you notice instantly? Cheapsmells is making the most out of mothers day, i cant see anything to do with mothers day on your homepage.
Posting a link to a conversion rate page is helpful, but most of the time conversion rates are site specific, for example it probably doesnt have anything about mothers day in that link.
Another thing that cheapsmells do is have pink everywhere on the womens perfumes pages, pink text, pink backgrounds, borders, images, its all pink galore. And with the mens aftershave pages its all green and manly.
Thats just a few tips to get you going in the right direction.....
Thanks, ive not thought about a tagline before tbh. I do plan on getting some mother's day graphics and offers up very soon, running a bit behind at the moment.

Hi there
I've got some suggestions:
- have you thought about allowing customers to submit text reviews as well as ratings? This would give people confidence that the products are being rated by real people.
- I'd swap your 'send to a friend' and 'rating' sections on your product pages- ratings are more important.
- You should consider listing your top rated or bestselling fragrances somewhere, preferably on the homepage. 'Featured fragrances' is fine, but doesn't tell people that these are popular products.
- You've got your categories listed along the top of the page and down the side, and they seem to vary between the two. You really only need one or the other, the spare space you're using there could be much better used (for the bestseller list?)
- How about listing similar fragrances at the bottom of the product page. That way if someone reaches the product page but decides against it you can suggest alternatives they might like. You could call it something like 'Other fragrances you might like...' This doesn't have to be complicated- you could choose frangrances aimed at the same age group, or with similar base notes (musky, flowery etc).
- If you can do it, let people sort by product rating.
- I think your fonts need to be more legible. Your logo looks great but isn't 100% clear, and it really needs to be. This is partly because its on a dark background. At the moment the 'zone' stands out more than the 'fragrance', which doesn't seem right.
Cheers
Naomi

I disabled the product reviews for the time being since nobody was writing any. Some good tips there thanks nim.

You could try incentivising them? Send everyone who reviews a code for a discount off their next order? It does take a while to build up reviews, people seem to wait until they see other people have submitted them, bit of a catch-22.
