Inspired by Saint Smingle, I'd like to keep the goodwill going with this offer to help newbies.

I have a Gadget Blog which is currently PR3. More importantly each new page is indexed within a few minutes at present and well written, unique content articles are being ranked well ( positions 1-3 in the SERPS ).

To help newbies get new sites indexed, and potentially to help you with your first affiliate sale, I'm willing to publish your articles on this blog.

    Details..

    - must be unique content
    - at least 300 words
    - can include one natural link to your site
    - must fit on a gadget blog

All I'd like to ask in return is a link from your site to one of mine to help index new sites.

Pls PM me for further details.

We have talked about this before and I think it is a good idea but as I am a newbie I am not really sure what article writing involves.

In this case could it just be 300 word description of a gadget?

Yes. Here's an example on the BT Stratus 1500.

All I'm looking for is a mini product review.

Lol, i think the benefit to newbies is that they get their site indexed quicker, get a pr3 site linking to them and get the ball rolling.

I know what you are saying though and does sound like hes taking advantage of newbies, but i think they may benefit a tad.

I wouldnt do it IMO but then everyone has different opinions.

    Gadget,

You may have almost shot yourself in the foot here.

I read this and thought sounds fair enough.

Then I read the first couple of replies and almost jumped to YOUR defence (in the current "good spirit" of this joint).

However, you are actually asking for a lot more than you are offering when you break it down.

There are much easier ways of getting sites indexed for free and in about 30 seconds.

I'm not for a moment saying gadget is "trying to take advantage of noobs" rather he just didn't quite think this through properly.

    I'm off down the pub.

    Aff.

At the end of the day - gadget gets some free content (which the SEs love) and the person writing the mini review gets a backlink which will a) help their site get indexed if its new and b) will help improve the ranking of your site in the serps and might even c) send you some traffic.

You get a link from an established site, which isn't going to come your way very often, as a newbie with not much else to offer. ( I use the term 'you' loosely, not you specifically).
In an attempt to help people gadget gets a slap in the face and some whining from the something for nothing community?
A lesson learnt for gadget maybe?

One of the key issues in Smingle's thread is getting sites indexed. All I'm trying to do is help with that. The blog is a few years old, gets indexed quickly, ranks well for some terms.

I can see the point about I get content and a link, and the newbie gets just a link. Thus, change to plan. I'll publish the content, with your link but now won't ask for a return link. That sounds fair to me.

To those people I've helped in the past on this forum, via PM and via email, you know I'm genuine. To those that I haven't yet helped .. look at the number of 'thanks' I've had to-date and, well, trust is a wonderful thing!

Look I'm not trying to diss gadget.
I thought he was looking for feedback on the idea conscidering he went to the trouble to add a poll and all.
Maybe I could have phrased it better ..... sorry for that!
I don't really know him TBH

I'm all for people trying to help others out....... thats what the forums for.

Just struck me as a little one sided.
Geez i can get a quality one way link just by banging a site in my sig, without spending time sweating writing content for one of gadgets sites.

I'll happily go for it gadget if maybe you offer a little bit more in return.

    Cheers
    Mike

    Mike.

I'm cool with your comments. Like you said, I was after feedback. Off the back of those comments, I've dropped my request for a link. Cheers.

Have you ever guys heard of article marketing (what about guest blogging)?

I'll tell you what it is:
    - you write article/post
    - you submit it to directory(ies)/blog
    - at the end of article/post you have a link back to your site
    - so you get a bit of traffic and a good themed link

In the situation above it is just a niche "article directory" for gadgets. If somebody is starting a gadget site, then thats great link to have.

It seems all fine to me as long we're talking gadgets here. Only thing its not just about newbies, it's just standard offer, links for content

    Gadget,

I applaud you trying to help others get more links, so sites can be indexed and ranked, after all we all need links. Yes you get unique content on your site, affiliates get a link and you get a link back from the site you link to or from another site keeping it one-way, who cares really how it works and who benefits more than the other, its an offer to help people get sites indexed and help with longer term strategies of ranking, so well done - IMO great idea

I'll be writing something in return for a link, as per our PM discussion, please bear with me while I get organised on what and where the links take place

    Br
