Newbie question on bingo site traffic

I have created a website fastcomparebingosites.co.uk which is a bingo comparison site ( I am still looking to improve it but its my first attempt!) I have looked into keywords meta tags etc and still continue to try and improve my search engine ranking, I have also looked at forums to get the name out there as someone suggested and google adwords (which I was advised to steer well clear of!) I am also looking into linking to other websites, is there any other methods to push traffic to my site? Thanks for your time Gary

Hi Gary - welcome to a4u.

My initital thought is that you could have a bit more content on your home page to help you with your rankings.

At the moment, the only text you've really got on there are the names of the bingo rooms you're promoting and their bonus details.

Personally, I'd get rid of the "Welcome to the site" image and replace it with proper HTML content that contains the keywords you're looking to target. That way, Google will have a much better idea of what your site is about and it should help you rank better.

One other SEO suggestion would be to get something in your <title> tag. Currently it says "Untitled Document" which isn't going to help you at all. The <title> tag is one of the most important areas when it comes to SEO, so again make sure you get your chosen keywords in there.

Oops. It looks like the forum didn't like me using square brackets around the word title ...

Anyway, the two pointers I had were:

1. Replace your welcome image with actual text (Google can't read text embedded in an image)

2. Change your title tag. At the moment it just says "Untitled Document" which doesn't help Google at all. You really want to try and get some keywords in there to help with your rankings and also to encourage searchers to click through to your site ...

I agree, way to many banners with zero content. You are going to struggle to gain any rankings with that site and i wouldn't be surpised if MSN & Yahoo give the site a penalty since they both don't like excessive use of affiliate links.

Its a bit 1996 mate to be honest. In its current form you aint gonna earn a penny from it.

Also dont like the name. Im not a big fan of compare this or that as the whole compare thing is a fad which will fade away once something else pops along. Why not:

I agree with the previous posts, your site needs more unique content to make it appealing to both the search engines and to users.

I like your idea of having the quick comparison chart but it is too large and lacks personality. You should also be including write-ups and reviews for each of the sites as this will give your site a better ranking, and will be attractive to users.
