    Hi All

Does it matter if you use the affiliate link directly on the index page? I've heard some people say it doesn't matter and others say that google doesn't look favorably on these types of sites? Is that true?

Currently I have it in use on one of my sites and that one has dropped down in the rankings, in fact its disappeared altogether. I was worried it might be for this exact reason

I can only say that I have one site which has links on the index page, which has rarely dropped below #5 for the appropriate keywords in the past 9 months.

Not saying they will work like that, but I have one which does.

Not had any problems in the past using affiliate links on the main page of sites, however I have started to change my sites over to a jump script as it makes them more manageable in terms of merchant change of networks, merchants closing (which seems a lot more regular currently) etc.

In doing the above change I have not seen any real benefits ranking wise, so I would say it makes no difference, from what I have experienced.

Yeah im the same really, use php redirects most of the time but didn't on this site and wondered if it made a difference. Glad to hear that you guys don't really have any problems.

Iv seen plenty of affiliate sites for terms like "teesside florists" or something else etc etc with obvious aff links in them.

They always appear near the business end of the serps so one would assume its not a major problem.

Have you attracted any iffy links or keyword spammed etc etc. Id have a look at trying to clean up your site first and do a re inclussion request once thats happened.

I used to always hide them with click tracking software, MSN used to give a penalty for excessive use of affiliate links on the homepage, don't know if they still do since i'm talking nearly 3 years now since i was an active affiliate.
