    Hi All,

I'm pretty new to AM, so please excuse the novice question...

I have several affiliate sites that are currently getting pretty low traffic around 300 hits per week (i think my SEO needs work), but the CTR on them ranges from between 40 - 120%, yet the number of conversions is 0 most of the time, and if i'm lucky i get 1 or 2 a week from each site.

Is this common? What sort of conversion rates do most people seem to get or is it completely random?

    Cheers.

It depends on the product you are promoting amongst many other factors.

On one site I used to convert roughly 1 in 200 visitors into a sale when promoting high end consumer electronics. I've managed to get that down to about 1 in 120.

On another site dealing with digital photo printing I convert about 1 in 10.

Ah ok; thanks for the reply.

These are mainly consumer electrical products that i'm marketing, so that kind of makes me a little happier that it's not just me! Would still like to convert more though...obviously!

Do you think this is because people shopping for electronics shop around a lot and click on A LOT of links before they take the plunge, or is it more a case that they just tend to go elsewhere...?

If it is the former, then can anybody recommend a sector where people tend to just buy on the first or second click, rather than shopping around for months reading about things and looking at loads of prices, etc, etc... digital photo printing is on the table...any more?

Yep, as you suspect consumer electronics has a lot of browsage as people do try very hard to get the best price.

As for a sector where people buy on the first and second click, best of luck finding that. If it does exist nobody will let on!!

Finding lucrative niches is difficult, but it gets easier as you go along. Even if someone did tell you about one that was absolute internet gold, you might not be able to exploit it as not only do you need to find something that works well, but something that'll fit in with your own mindset.

    Good luck!
