    Have used favicons for a while now but only just come across this site:

    favicon.ico Generator

    Couldn't be simpler, and more importantly, making transparent backgrounds is so easy.

    Oh, and you can even animate them!

    Do browsers support animated favicons? I've never seen one before that's all

    by the way, there are lots of these sites, just google favicon generator etc. That one looks nice though

    Most new browsers will allow you to you a .png for your favicon now too. Personally I really hate animated favicons, yuck

    I've no idea about that, but the preview seems to show them working - not my cup of tea either so I can't confirm whether they work or not.

    I've used others before but this one seemed the easiest to use and get a transparent background all in one.

    Out of curiosity, I've just uploaded an animated favicon to Eurovision Song Contest Winners - All Videos

    I can see it works in FF but my IE7 & 8 isn't showing it yet.

    If you'd rather create a favicon in Photoshop or use an existing image, this site allows to you upload an image and then converts it for you - FavIcon from Pics -- how to create a favicon.ico for your website
