I don't even know who boymitchell is but I now want to vote for him..
That's honest ...
I really don't understand the other affiliates problems ? in fact it is quite arrogant.. your own life is so important and checking your stats makes everything tick ? I don't think so..
I go to lots of different awards, web awards, music awards, blah blah , and as boring as they can be, it is simply nice for workers to be recognised for the work you do and that takes votes and what's wrong with saying, "if I've done my job and done well by you then vote for my personal pat on the back".. it's SEO for the voting stakes![]()

Completely and utterly disagree with you mate. A few people on this forum have blogged about who they are voting for this year and I wouldn't say that any of them are guilty of the above. They are merely expressing an opinion (that's why they blog in the first place) and I for one thank them for doing it. As I said above, it's really insightful.
I'm beginning to think you're just the tiniest bit cynical mate![]()

To be honest as an affiliate I find the whole thing a waste of time, except probably the affiliate blog award.
Its just a pat on the back for networks, and agencies to say look how good we are, and to get more business.
This industry also involves affiliates, so why isn't there awards voted by the networks and agencies for best affiliate, best new affiliate, most orginal site etc.
Just my opinion.

I think the secret is to vote early doors then you can ignore all the begging emails after that. I've not read a single one.
Do you have products for review on my chocolate reviews or Easter eggs blog?s PM me.
What a shame you feel that way. Have you actually looked at the categories? a4uawards – Celebrating Innovation & Diversity within the UK's Affiliate Marketing Industry
Here are the ones that affiliates can win:
Innovative Affiliate (Publisher) of the Year
Best Use of Technology within Affiliate Marketing
Best New Entrant in Affiliate Marketing
There are also 5 vertical awards specifically for affiliates, so a total of 8 awards that reward affiliates.
Most certainly not a waste of time.

Fair enough - just thought the awards were the ones we could vote for.
There goes my invite lol

I think it's great that awards for affiliates have been included this year. I went to the awards last year (thanks to Chris Bishop) but I don't think these awards were running then?! I might be wrong the wine was flowing quite freely!
But I like the fact that this year all areas of the affiliate marketing industry are being covered and acknowledged!
I'm really looking forward to attending
And I also voted on the first day to avoid changing my mind later on!

Can Lammo and I get in on that discussion again? :P
While most of the awards can be considered a nice pat on the back by your peers (be they selected jurors or the wider audience) a few of them will provide status and financial gain, so I can see why some are making a claim for the votes. It happens across every industry, why we wouldn't expect it to happen in a Marketing industry is quite surprising.
We can only hope year round performance is the main criteria people use when voting, rather than who shouts the loudest at the end. I'd be very surprised if anyone is influenced by a flurry of last minute emails etc, but it may actually encourage them to vote, even if it's to vote against you for spamming the hell out of them :P
Anyways, I'm looking forward to the awards, it's nice to get out of the t-shirt and shorts for a few hours and get the penguin suit on. Then get changed back into affiliate clothes immediately after!:tup

Neil, judging from what I know of you, you don't do this job for the recognition or for the pat in the back or an award. So, stop moaning and get on with what you love doing!
In fact, the most successful people in this industry are the ones who don't consider this yet another 9-5 job...
