Hi all,
I have just noticed that my website has been awarded a page rank of 1 by Google, what effect if any will this have on my website??
Does it mean you get more visitors or higher ranking on the search engines etc??
Not sure if it's good or bad.
Thanks![]()

So regardless of what SEO efforts you put into your site linkbuilding is the main deciding factor in how important Google thinks your site is??
Due to the pagerank rating does this mean I will rank higher than others regardless of keywords and meta tags etc then?
Page Rank does not make you rank higher, that's a common misconception.
Page Rank helps you get pages in the main index though.. a site with a million pages but no page rank flowing into it is going to have a hard time getting all those pages included in the index.
However if you've got a large amount of PR then you will find that you can use the PR Juice to float more pages up and into the main index.
But just cos a page is PR5 does not mean it will necessarily rank above a PR3 page about the same topic.
Page Rank mean your site has some weight with Google... You may notice a small visitor increase over the next few weeks but all this takes time.... Anyway CongZ :tup
SEO is so complex it totally confuses me TBH!!
I think I get the drift of how it works but how a PR3 can rank above a PR5 does lose me a bit I must be honest
Thanks for the congrats there :tup
Is getting a pagerank from Google something to be proud of then I take it??
As per my experience, I have not seen any direct effect of high PR over the increased search rankings. Rather high PR value helps you get more people contact you for link exchange whereby you can ask for links in return from pages having high/similar PR value, and having the keywords as anchor text on those links will surely help you to lift up the rankings as a part of your off page SEO. Also, having links from websites having high PR value will surely result in getting frequest Google visits.

They should do a visitorank, how good visitors think your website is
I couldn't care less how good Google thinks it is (unless they buy servers thru my links)
Yes and no....If you have a high PR site, it will help with getting more pages indexed and more people will want you to link to them or link exchange...It has very little relevance or impact in your own rankings.
What does help you in your rankings is other relevant sites (and non relevant sites) with high PR linking to you (so yes PR helps, kind of). I mentioned non relevant sites because if the BBC linked to you, the article might be releveant but the entire BBC site is not neccesarily but could potentailly have a massive impact on your own PR and traffic.
Hope its makes sense after a few glasses of Red
Exactly!
Otherwise, adobe.com which is PR10 would rank for everything, but it is not.
So relevance, PageRank (shall we say quality inbound links from related sites), good anchor text and on-site copy is what it takes to rank well.
PR 1 in fact is just approximate value of your links. It can be from 0.5 - 1.49 and toolbar shows PR1so don't worry too much. if you rank n1, you're good, if you don't you need to get more quality links. PR is good way to see if the page you are getting link from has lots of power or not.
Always keep adding new pages targeting specific keyword set and build relevant links to that page![]()

I spent the majority of last year getting relevant inbound links for a site i have and did see some increase in visitors and PR.
But what i dont understand is why a new site i have that went live in January has a PR1, i havent even started building links for it yet![]()
