OK, I have succumbed!! I have always done sites in either plain html or a script that I highly customised and price tapestry. I took a look at wordpress sometime ago but didn't like it and couldn't get on with it. With all the talk about how great it is I thought I would have another look.
What I am asking from you is for any tips and advice on running wordpress.
This is where I am trying it out: Funky Duds | Alternative Clothing
Thanks to threads here and Kirsty's blog, I have so far added:
SEO Pack - WordPress Plugins | WordPress Developer
ExecPHP - http://bluesome.net/post/2005/08/18/50/
Link Cloaking - ø Link Cloaking Plugin for WordPress | W-Shadow.com ø
Smart Pinger - Ultimate Plugins Smart Update Pinger [Ultimate Plugins]
Related Posts - WordPress 2.3 Related Posts Plugin
Anything else I should look at? Does my onsite seo look ok? Is there anything I could do better?
Please don't come back and say I need more content - I KNOW that, I am just trying out wordpress and about it's set up.
Does anybody use price tapestry with wordpress? So far when putting it into a post I just get an error message.

Aswell as those you've mentioned (or similar) I also use:
Google XML Sitemap Generator
Google Analyticator (only useful if you use Google Analytics!)
Robots Meta
RSS Footer

I have just noticed you have the same content on another blog (won't mention its name).
I would be careful about dupe content!!
Andrew Clapham - Fashion Blogger.
Have a read of Yoast.com (I think Joost de Valk spoke at the last A4U conference). He has an article on Wordpress SEO and lots of great tips.
I read a ton of blogs and articles when I was getting started with WP and found his was the easiest to follow. And so far it has worked very well on the sites I've used it
Hope that helps
Cheers, Jon
It looks really nice, theme is inline with the product. Which is not normally the way for blogs, particularly fashion ones.
Something you could do with the SEO.
Are you only using all in one seo on the homepage? Theres no meta description or keywords on the internal pages.

Thanks! That template was awful to integrate with Price Tapestery. The css was all over the place - I think they had at least 2 and sometimes 3 of the same class so adjusting it was a nightmare! They also hadn't closed the body and html tags!! Good job I know html and css!
Posts all have title and description tags, but I have only done keywords for the last post. Thanks, I shall add keywords to the others!
Could somebody explain what is "canonical" for me please.
TIA
hmm, ok - BIG drawback with wordpress. I put it up on a domain that I don't use in order to test it, play around with it and make sure it works ok. I put in the posts for funkyduds to make sure they were all working ok before putting it live. I haven't yet deleted that, just in case I needed it.
I now have somebody posted a message on it already!!!!!! :-(
I have ping turned off (I think!) but it is possible one ping went before I realised.
From this page
top - Funky Clothes
There's no meta at all on that page, and its the same for the othersPHP Code:<head>
<title>top - Funky Clothes</title>
<link media='all' href='/------------/default.css' type='text/css' rel='stylesheet' />
<link media='all' href="http://www.funkyduds.co.uk/-----------------/style.css" type='text/css' rel='stylesheet' />
<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="RSS" href="/funkyclothes/rss.php" />
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="http://www.funkyduds.co.uk/favicon.ico" />
</head>
And, your default.css is coming from a different site, not a problem, but something you may want to fix

Use Headspace2 instead of all in one SEO - recommended by Joost at Yoast.com
Also, use Joost's Canonical URL plugin to help with duplicate content issues.
I hope that helps.

Thanks Pete, trouble is I don't want to block the GOOD search engines!
Cool wasn't sure if it was just a dupe content thing on your dev server that you wanted to block as it's just for development.
Which automatic backup do you use?
