Bulk Email Software
Hi,
Anyone know of a good software that will turn my laptop into an email server?
I am currently limited to 200 emails per hour on my hosting and need to send bulk of 2000+ emails at once.
Advice would be appreciated

if you have any money, i'm a big fan of mailchimp for sending low volumes. their '501-2500 emails per month' band costs $30. you get full tracking, can segment, get to send from their protected IPs, etc.

You can use a product designed for Goldmine software called Bulk Email Processor for GoldMine (www.intelliclicksoftware.com/batchmailer.htm). It works with a solution that also tracks email click activity and web visits by contact with information going directly back to the CRM system it ties into (GoldMine or ACT).

Ok, thanks guys.
I need it for a number of reasons, but mainly for link requests. I'll be sending 1000+ on a regular basis so cannot be limited to just 1500-2000 per month as its not enough. As I run 10-15 blogs (with more planned) then I need to keep the links pointing in on a regular basis.
Accelerator, of those which would you say is best?
I do have a spare laptop and was thinking of installing Windows Server on it and running it as an email server, would that work?

I use yourmailinglistprovider.com and it does a decent job. It has a simple online interface and it's easy to use.
Otherwise, like you say, you could turn your own computer into a mailserver and there are quite a few options for mail server software but it will be a bit more technical.

You can also take a peek at SMTP relay service - authenticated SMTP email service, mobile / relaying denied and SMTP errors solved. that provides a very cost effective service for sending bulk email and not being flagged as a spammer.

Ok thanks, I think I'm going to go for the server idea though.
I was looking at the Ubuntu Server Edition open source software, any ideas what it is like? I've heard pretty good reviews about it and it is ideal to install on a laptop.
Its open source and about a 500mb download directly from their website, and its doesnt take much requirements to run it, plus they offer a free PDF download.
Anyone ever come across this free server software?

Hmm, not excatly what I am looking for, but will keep it in mind for future reference. I need an SMTP service, or SMTP client-side software that can handle bulk email sending. I'd leave my hosting SMTP server details on there but for the 200 emails per hour limitations.
Basically, I need to combine 2 softwares, one that I use for SEO, and one that sends via SMTP on my local machine. My SEO client generates potential backlink partners and I need to setup SMTP within that client in order to handle the sending of bulk emails.
Thanks for the suggestions though, keep em coming :tup
