And relax, these amendments, are strictly related to the Data Protection Directive, the important bit of the statement being in accordance with Directive 95/46/EC. As such the proposed amendments will deal with the collecting of data on such sites that store any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person.
This has nothing to do with tracking cookies or any form of affiliate tracking as this contains no data on an identified or identifiable natural person.
Much ado about nothing

it depends on how the tracking is setup, in some cases the order ids for merchants could be the users email address for example, equally an order ID can be associated with an individuals personal contact information at the merchant side.
in both these examples it doesn't affect the affiliate but it does affect the merchant which may then have an effect on the affiliate program and thus the affiliate.
I wouldn't say its a massive big deal, but one we should all be aware of.

Mate.. don't worry about it, it's par for the course here .. especially in the UK .. people think that some secret magic goes on in brussels and they are out to get you .. lol ..
When in fact the reality is most often if not 100% of the time a completely different thing.. "they are telling us what to do" makes headlines and stirs nationalistic fervour, but when you actually look in to it, it's all nonsense..
The UK is hung up on thinking that the EU is out to get them, when in fact it is a market that everyone wants to make better and work better, but because the UK is full of 'headlines' it makes it difficult .. the problem is not with the EU but with the mentality of people in the UK ..
Of course that post/headline is nonsense, but people here panic first before realising the reality.. it's the way it is ..
I couldn't agree more, and, the UK population seems to have forgotten that we are actually full members of the EU, hate the EU, hate ourselves.Originally Posted by Lawcom
