Content Widgets v Dynamic Banners

Hi

I work for a retail company and have just taken over as affiliate manager.

We are currently in the process of getting new banners and are not sure where our money would be more efficiently spent - on content widgets (offered by affiliate windows) or on dynamic banners.

Has anyone got any thoughts on this?

Content widgets epecially if you're going to maintain top 10 lists on specific ones.

I'd vote for content widgets too. It is great when we can paste in some code and then forget about it. This has always been the attraction of the the Amazon program for me, a site that converts well and provides all the widgets you'd ever need. They just manage themselves and allow me to develop the site.

I guess from the merchant eye view this allows you to have control over what products get promoted through the widget.

Do dynamic banners not have benefits over content widgets though?

I'd go for the dynamic banners... For example liveads, the newest rumors are that they will support custom xml feed into the text and image content of a banner, and thereby giving you the opptunity to list your top ten.
