They pay on prices ex VAT.
However, £365.21 + VAT = £419.99.
So was £419.99 the price when sold through a 3rd party?
Hi Guys,
I've just looked and I sold a tv at amazon the other day: Toshiba Regza 32RV635DB 32-inch Widescreen Full HD: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo
The price on amazon says this Tv is £449.00 so 4% coms should be £17.96 but in my amazon associates page it gives the sale price as 365.21 and coms at £14.61:
Amazon.co.uk GBP 365.21 4.00% 1 GBP 365.21 GBP 14.61
I'm just wondering what could be the reason as its happened a couple of times on different items in the past 2 days and could catch you out badly if your doing ppc?
Any ideas?
Cheers
Russ

Thanks for that mate, I didnt know about the VAT so thats answered part of it, the figures still arent quite right though, I thought maybe it was second hand/thrid party too but it says amazon is the seller.
Its strange - it makes working out what your earning difficult which is going to be a pain.
even though they sometimes state 'free delivery' I have noticed that they will deduct the cost of delivery from the commission on some items.
Indeed it states in their terms:
"Qualifying Revenues" are revenues derived by us from our sales of Qualifying Product units (other than services available on the Amazon.co.uk Site), excluding costs for shipping, handling, gift-wrapping, taxes, service charges, credit card processing fees, returns and bad debt.
So it is virtually impossible to work out what you will receive until it actually hits your account
I noticed this on my account too.
Rather confussing! Thanks for the explantation.
Incase anyone else is affected by this it is the VAT issue, below is the response I got from amazon about it.
I'm not sure where they got the £419 price from as it was a direct sale made by them - mind you as Riddys said - if they deduct delivery and they charge £30 for that it would make sense I guess.
Dear Associate,
Thank you for contacting the Amazon.co.uk Associates Programme.
In relation to your below email, you are correct that for any items in our catalogue (except
books), the price on the Amazon.co.uk website includes VAT. Therefore, the price shown on our site will be 15 per cent more than the our price shown on your report for the titles in question. The reason for this is that referral fees are calculated based on the "sale price" of Qualifying Products excluding VAT.
In this case the cost of the television was £419.99 (not £449.99) which is £365.21 plus 15% VAT.
We hope that this you found this information useful.
