Depends on the product, what is it?
Posted via my Mobile Device
Hi
We're new to this forum, but are looking to get into affiliate marketing (as a merchant).
We plan to offer our affiliates a unique 10% discount code that they can provide to their customer bases, we will then pay commission on all sales made using this discount code.
We have two questions.
Do you think this will work ?
What commission % should we pay the affiliate ?
Many Thanks for you help.

I would look at the 10% margin, see how it works out

We are currently paying 15% commission to our affiliates, but will need to recruit as many affiliates as possible to increase the order volume to offset the reduction in margin.
Thanks for your help

You plan sounds okay. It would help if you offer deep linking to your affiliates i.e the ability to link to an individual product or directly to the check out page

Hi Michelle,
The other thing to do is take a quick look around at some affiliate's websites in your sector, i.e. find a couple of sites which are promoting competitor products to yours and which you think might have good traffic for your offers.
Then see if you can find out what these affiliates are being paid with the deals they're currently promoting (by simply checking the affiliate network which runs these offers or, even better, if you can get talking to the affiliate themselves) -- this should give you a fairly good idea of how you'd need to position your offer and commission etc in order to get the relevant type of affiliates excited and to consider promoting you.
Cheers
Piers.
