Finally My Own Marketing Blog Site

Hi guys

After years of reading other peoples informative affiliate marketing blogs, I thought its time I got around to creating my own affiliate blog /site to share my experiences.

Aswell as blogging about general stuff thats happening in the world of AM, I'm also attempting to write a few guides which may especially appeal to any 'Newbies'

The site is Marketing Mix

The site will eventually cover other forms of marketing aswell, which may interest some and particularly focus on the areas I've had direct experience with.

I've added an application to allow anyone to post details of their own news, that they may wish to share on the site.
You can do this on the homepage.

I'm also conscidering other authors with experience, who may wish to publish on the site.

Looks good. Nearly left the site as when I scrolled down I did not see any posts but then I spotted the recent posts widget and clicked from there.

Tried to leave a comment and got a 500 error!

I may change the homepage to latest entries, or move latest posts up a notch then.

Initial impressions:

Layout
Good layout, plenty of white space.

Site title (The Marketing Mix) is almost invisible in light grey. Would remove and replace the Fusion image with this site title.

Navigation
From the home page, could not work out how to add a comment. Eventually saw the section on 'Enter the mix' page.
I would add a link on the home page, so users can see where to add a comment, e.g. the "Join Our Marketing Community…" section

Content
I guess the key is making regular posts that people will be interested in - with your own unique twist, and I'm sure once you/others have added more posts, will look better.
Other sections that could be added: Affiliate Marketing Tips, Getting Started, Networks, Merchants, SEO, PPC, etc.

Look forward to it becoming a great site.

Layout
Its the first time I've used this particular wordpress template, so its good to hear your feedback and how your interacted with it.
At first I wasn't going to bother with a logo... Didn't really see the point ( call me lazy I guess) .... Your right though, the small title is a little annoying.
I want to concentrate on page/blog content mainly so it may be there for a while.

Navigation
I could add comments to the homepage, however I want to keep them relevant to each post/page. Will have to think some more on this one.

Content
Time doesn't allow me to be blogging on a daily right now, (never enough hours in the day) but I will certainly be posting regularly.
I want to focus on pages too and create some good guides and lists which should become usefull - especially for anyone new to affiliate marketing.

The first thing I noticed is that your missing an important blog from your roll

Seriously though...
First impressions.. Its a nice clean template your using.

I do like your content as you go into quite a bit of detail that others might be reluctant to give. That should prove appealing in its self to alot of people I would imagine.
Its an interesting read to see how your growing your income each month.

I look forward to reading more of your posts.

Good, clean design

Title
Add some colour, maybe a small image

Home page
Consider reducing the size of the home page, as this may increase page load time. e.g. reducing the number of posts per page - if this is possible. Its good that you have included some images, but remember to optimise and maybe even reduce image sizes (e.g. one of the images at the bottom of the page is over 300kb).

Cheers guys. I've reduced the number of posts per page down to 10 from 20 and will be more careful with my images in the future.

I have also started a new micro niche site and will be charting its success (I hope) over the coming weeks and months.

I don't like the 'read more' on posts, I prefer not to have to click as most times I don't bother, but that is just me.
