    Hi everyone

I read an interesting article about linkbaiting the other day.

What do you think about it? What is the best way to do linkbaiting?

    Thoughts and inputs appreciated.

    Thanks a lot,

    Alexandre

News linkbait. Like when rumours went round about MJ dying. The site that got it first was probably very well linked to. Getting a scoop used to be the journo's aim, now it's the webmaster's too.

Information linkbaiting - not so spammy imo. Good quality info that people will think worthy of linking to and sharing with their friends.

Funny stuff - that picture of your dog being giddy, or a video of the parrot teasing the dog... They get sent around but people will repackage them. So should you put your url on the image or embed in the vid?

Contraversial - be bold and nasty and see what happens. You might get sued but you might also get massive publicity (and be sued).

Make it easy for people to share the link and it'll happen quicker.

It doesn't have to be outrageous or wacky - a good informative article on ezine can attract links. This has obvious benefits that pay long term.
You can get traffic a lot of ways, getting good links and some authority is a better strategy, in my opinion, although it can still be classed as link bait?

Maybe link bait should be speed rated. As there's stuff that will link quick and stuff that will go slow for a long time.

So you're thinking one night stand link bait versus love and marriage link bait?

    Interesting
