Hi folks
Not sure if you are already aware, however we just wanted to share some news of a Google update happening shortly.
It would appear that the update (currently named “caffeine”) has been going in and out of live testing for a while - you may in fact have been seeing natural search results bouncing up and down in the last couple of weeks.
If you have a look at Google / Google Caffeine Comparison by BlackDog.ie you may see some of the changes side by side with current results. They appear to be pulling in a lot more social sites – like twitter, etc and giving these an added boost in the results. Also there is some degree of underlying change in how results are produced – half the time of previous query to result, etc. Also the ‘buzz’ is that Google is bringing more importance and a wider analysis into the breadth of keywords/phrases that appear on and off site – which would explain the current problems with one word optimisation.
Hope you find the info usual and we’ll update the post should we hear anything else.
Thanks
Emma

Phew! my site is ranked no1 on either system.
Bad luck for Aviva car insurance though! They appear 5th on normal and not at all on caffeine! Thats gotta hurt :cry
Course all search engines are making changes everyday so no sleep lost by me tonight!
just checkde quite a few search terms and if this changes there are gonna be a lot of unhappy people :
If you want to look at the Caffeine results for the UK, you might try this:
Go directly to Google Caffeine instead of the above link, run your search as normal, and then go to your address bar and at the end of the address/url, add:... and press enter.Code:&gl=UK
This should set the geographical location of the search to the UK.
I believe this should work, but don't hold it against me if not![]()
Thanks for that! Did the job.
MG.
