........and thats the reason why click to reveal should have been stopped earlier!
Given that Click to Reveal has received the blessing of the IAB, networks and agencies I guess we have to accept that it is here to stay and we need to make the most of it.
If the practice remains within the guidelines of the IAB is there any reason why review sites cannot add prominent links at the top of their pages that jumps the intro paragraph and sends them down to the bottom of the page where the reviews exist.
Obviously the graphical image link will entice people to click as that is what they are looking for, but if there's some text beneath explaining that the merchant in question will be popped open, is there any reason why this is a problem with the IAB guidelines and network terms and conditions?
The theory could be extended to any type of site that uses a common template and has a recurring purpose such as price comparison. Click here to reveal the most up to date prices for XYZ LCD TV (and open the cheapest merchant) Not too tricky to do and you could probably customise your script to pop a diffent merchant if the visitor has already had the lowest price merchant popped open in the last 10 minutes.

the question isn't whether it can be used on more things, but whether it makes sense as part of providing good customer experience. CTR is annoying from a customer perspective but they get what they are after, albeit with an extra click and an extra window.
If you annoy your customers in your effort to monetise absolutely everything, you will lose them altogether. The IAB guidelines were trying to protect the customers as well, since those affiliates were very short sighted
