BBC NEWS | Business | eBay profits continue to fall

Profits at online auction giant eBay have fallen by 29% as it continued to struggle amid the weak economy.

It made $350m (£211m) in the third quarter from $492m in the same period a year earlier as customers showed reluctance to spend.

When did they take their affiliate program in-house? Wasn't that just over a year ago? In my trawling of the net, I hardly ever see eBay stuff anymore, don't know if they're connected, but my heart tells me they are.

    Hi Scriptmonkey,

Yes you're right, eBay launched their own affiliate platform back in April 2008 - suitably titled 'eBay Partner Network' or EPN for short.

The programme is very much alive and kicking and eBay have just launched a brand new and totally unique CPC commission model based on quality of traffic called QCP. See the EPN blog article for more details.

It's also managed and supported by us at R.O.EYE here in the UK so if you have any questions please direct them to us!

    Best regards,
    Rich

The trouble is that ebay's management have done all they possibly can to kill off everything that made ebay a success. They have managed to get rid of many small sellers to make way for their Outlets and shopping mall, but those small sellers were also good buyers.

Plus the fact they have mucked about with search so much that you can't find anything you're looking for - really sensible, NOT.
