I decided to create a basic video to put on YouTube using animoto - the end of slideshows

Here is the result... YouTube - Extending Oak Table

I am hoping that this youtube video appears in the search results as part of Google's "Universal Search". We'll see what affect it has on traffic, branding etc... if any. :blush

ha! thats a great idea - I see my logos have made it onto the big screen :-)

I've not done much promotion on my site, hoping to get most of my sales via organic Google results.

I've managed to get a few backlinks off some related oak sites, and had a couple of PR articles submitted.

Thanks for being so open about this ...
Yep, I considered using feeds, but I decided against it - partly because I haven't done any sites with feeds ie. don't know how, and secondly I wanted to have more information on the site.

As to these products changing, I am hoping these products won't change too much, but when/if they do, I will redirect the links to the merchants homepage, and also will remove the price. It's definitely not the best way to do this, but it should work well for the competition, and if this is a niche worth looking into further than I can go from there in a few months!

Be nice to Pete and he might let you have a copy of the theme!

    Thanks

    al

    Hi Guys

Well, I started on page 8, and things have gone from bad to worse, as I'm now on page 9!:scared

I've just done a site search on oakcoffeetable.org and google produces two page of results, with the second being a duplicate of the first. Anyone know what this could be, and if it could be causing problems?

Also as I'm a bit of a noob, I really want to see what the backlinks from you guys will do to my serps position before I start submitting articles etc etc. Roughly how long will it take for google to find those backlinks, and reference them to my site, so I can see the benefit?

Indeed he might - he may also let you get a beta version (when it's ready) of his new, all siging, all dancing affiliate targeted wordpress theme too...

Can I be nice to you too Pete

That theme/site looks really good! Can't believe the standard of the sites in this thread it's a real eye opener.

I didn't do Al's theme, just provided the base for it.
Al's done all the work making it look good, the Theme is just a starting point, no real styled content or layout, just starting block to build on. You can sculpt it into whatever you like.

Yep exactly that, it removes a lot of the php gumpth, sets up a semantic structure allows you to build your site on it's foundations.

Sure, I'll give it an update (as it's a little out of date now) and put it for download on the existem blog today

Google estimates there are 15 results when you do the site search, however when you click next it performs some filtering and then realises there are only 10 results, so it just redisplays page 1. This is nothing too worry about.

With regard to the ranking of your site, I certainly wouldn't wait, personally I'm trying to create at least 10-15 back links per week. The more back links (especially from related sites) that you can get the better your site ranking will be in the future.

I have some other thoughts on how to improve the ranking of your site, I'm not an SEO expert, but have gained some knowledge over the last few years in this area, drop me a PM if you are interested in hearing what I think.

Are these all link exchanges? Furniture | Oak Sideboard

I would be interested in an exchange of links, but there are so many links on this page.

I have just seen that too.

From what I've heard, google looks frowns upon sites with a page with more than 50 outbound links. you've got way more than 50 on that page.
