Images from merchant sites

Hi all

I'm a newbie, both to the forums and to the wonderful world of affililate marketing! Why didn't anyone tell me about this place weeks ago??

I'm only getting started and have started looking into deep linking(straight to my heart )

to merchants' pages. I know it's possible but I would like to know if I can use images from merchants' sites- other than those that have been specifically provided to affiliates who join a merchant's scheme.

I've queried this with a couple of the more popular affiliate schemes and the response has been conflicting. Do I contact the merchants directly and take it from there? I have a feeling this is one of those grey areas..and how I hate those. Is it? Or is it the territory of super affiliates who have special agreements with merchants?

I'd hate to put my foot in it before I even get it through the door...

Any advice very needed and appreciated.

Hi Kaching,

welcome to the forums. I suspect each merchant has differing views. Personally, our policy is that affiliates are welcome to lift images from our site - I would always recommend that you simply point the image location to our server, that way if an image is updated you always have the latest version. The only restriction is that you don't alter them in any way without permission.

The only restriction we have in place is that none of our images are used on any page featuring a picture of pop group "Busted".

We have our brand integrity to think of.

You might have said sooner Jon, I been working on my Busted Fan site all week long. It's what I go to 'night' school for, I was hoping to retire in the year 3000, Everything I knew about Busted was being put in to this site even got the help of this psycho girl, we be working all the way on the site that we never noticed when day turns into night, her name was Briteny by the way and she liked sleeping with the light on, dam now I feel like a loser kid.

LOL ok now this is sad, I just looked up a list of songs they done and made a reply out of them, oh dear me.. how many can you spot

I think Firebox also allow this. See the firebox deeplinking section on UKAffiliates.
