Aaron Wall has a new post about Google Product Listings:
10 Blue Links (and a Bunch of Other Stuff!) | SEO Book.com
Basically, merchants using Adowrds will pay-per-action rather than per-click. And they can use product images within their ads!
The way I see it, Google will now be the affiliate, making it more difficult for us to get the traffic from Adwords to landing page.
How do you think this will this affect the affiliate industry? Will PPC affiliates find it even harder to get traffic to landing pages?
Its certainly getting harder to get in the organic serps...as all the organic serps are being pushed down by all this "spammy like paid for ads".....shame, the simplicity of google was what made it do great in the first place. WOnder if some other search engine will capitalise on this and use it as their unique selling point that the resualts are all organic without being littered with all this other junk thrown in there.
Obviously this is exactly what google wants, because the majority of the results on the first page is becoming more and more paid for ad space! so you either gotta be in the top 5 serps or pay to get a decent impact on your key search terms.
Google's search results look more and more untidy every day though. They might be adding new features but until they get back on track supplying decent results there's little point in people using it. It's been dishing up crud for a couple of weeks now... perhaps it's the less valuable search results that are worse?
