Well I made a sale! 26p. Need about 30 more to make my money back. Site isn't very well ranked so bit of a long shot.

Note to self: stop buying frivilous domain names!

So I thought i'd throw an update about how hannahwaterman.net has been doing.

So far the site has generated just over 3000 unique visits in just over a month with the majority of these coming from the search "hannah waterman" rather than "hannah waterman body blitz fitness dvd" or whatever. all natural traffic, no PPC.

Generated 1000+ clicks through to play.com which is a 1/3 CTR, not bad. £860.28 worth of sales meaning i've made the commission to cover the cost of the domain name for the year and enough for about 2 pints of beer, so they ain't on me just yet.

Whats been most interesting about doing this is that whilst DVD's are a great way of pulling in traffic, the commissions on offer are barely worth the effort. So whilst I don't think i'd be creating a dedicated site for them, I may well create a DVD section for one of my established sites as a way of getting more brand awareness if nothing else.

Competitor wise it's been interesting and some interesting techniques being used accross the board. What has suprised me most is the lack of link building people have done. It's meant 1 sitewind link from my blog has been enough as nobody else has bothered.

Anyway, seeing as it started due to this thread I thought i'd share my learnings for what they are worth.

That is interesting. It is amazing the difference in results different affiliate can have working with seemingly the same material.

I've had about 3 sales now, two from amazon which gets me a few more pence then I do with play.com.

Hardly any hits either.
