In my opinion it is better to have a different account for your business activities. It means you have a record of all transactions in the one place and the taxman is less likely to query anything.

You should register as self employed, again it saves any confusion in the long run.

If you are in a high paying day job it can become more complicated. If you are earning less than £30,000 per annum and expect to earn between £200 & £500 per month from Affiliate Marketing you don't have much to worry about. The threshold for paying more tax is £37,400.

As I said earlier in the thread, my top tip is not to use the same bank for your personal & business.

Another vote for Abbey (now Santander). No charges at all and very efficient in my experience. Alliance & Leicester were in second place when I researched all this a couple of years ago. I believe they still have a tie up with the Post Office which might suit you.

Abbey certainly are coming in as strong favourites, you are not the first to mention them.

Abbey and Alliance & Leicester are now both part of the Santander Group and if my memory serves me correctly they are being rebranded in the few months as Santander along with Bradford & Bingley.

Just to pick up on this again, does Abbey offer online banking as part of their package?

    Cheers
