Barclaycard are available on Commission Junction, Halifax are not available on any of the main UK networks - although maybe Money Supermarket do them

forever is on CJ if you can stomach the measly, low, insulting, almost sarcstic commission rate for it... that's less for a lead than they pay for a click on espott

fed up of waiting for these guys to get back to me about a better rate... can go get stroked with their card at that rate...

halifax... hmmm they are on moneysupermarket but children are born,..grow old and die between applying and getting specific links on MS..

Be careful getting excited about B'Card's 0% forever offer - you have to spend £50 per month to qualify.

Say you have a £1000 balance:
You have to spend £50 x 12 months = £600. This will attract interest at upto their standard 17.9%. Aggregate interest rate - heading for 10% (sorry, not time to get calculator out).

Far better from BC is 6.9% for life, no strings attached. But Capital One offer 4.9% for life, which I think is the best deal. Remember, any balance transfer offer is only useful if you don't spend any money on the card. The best way to avoid doing this is to cut it up as soon as you get it.

Although I'm not sure if the cc companies would want us saying that.

    Flightmapping,

As long as you pay off your balance every month the Barclaycard is a great deal. We are using it to put petrol on and then pay it off each month.

    Watcher,

But the point is you aren't really getting 0% on balance tfrs. From the Barclaycard site -

Apply for a Barclaycard today and you could enjoy a balance transfer rate of 0% APR for the life of your balance when you spend a minimum of £50 per month.
    and

Any payments you make will go towards your balance transfer first.
So you transfer your £5000 Balance and spend your £50 then at the end of the month you pay off £50. That £50 reduces the balance transfer to £4950 - your £50 spending isn't cleared so you pay interest on it. The longer you have the card, the higher the amount of interest you have to pay as all the monthly amounts add up.

    ianm,

The thing is I don't just pay the £50 off. I pay the £50 PLUS the minimum, which is 2% of the balance transferred so effectively I am getting 0% on my transfer.

Admittedly, Barclay card expect most people not to do this and ONLY pay the minimum therefore getting caught out as you have outlined.

    ianm,

Just woken up from my Barclay induced slumber. No matter how much I pay it all obviously comes off the transferred balance. Hadn't seen that particular condition until your post. Luckily I have only had the card a month - just applied for the Halifax card and will move the entire balance.

    Cheers m8 !

yup tis a bit of a con

The thing that makes me laugh is that they(via CJ) expect us to push them for next to nothing, It is such a marketable product as the victim just sees the "spend £50 a month to qualify" bit and thinks.. wow I do that a day... yeah I'll have some of that...

If you whack it at the top of your page you will do next to nothing else it moves that quick.. so instead of say one month you have10 citi and a couple of egg, will earn about £195, (with citi converting at 80%) then stick forever links at the top and you just earned £45 all in for same leads

$6.20 for a product like this is a joke for this product as it sucks up all other card traffic off a page... I see each lead as about $25 I just lost... compared to a citi, egg or Lloyds card.

    Time for CJ to renegotiate..

Jenny offers a more realistic comms..here I come

barclaycard forever on CJ... "a bad deal forever" methinks..

Nice rationale! Another bunch of Barclaycard links removed and I've swapped More Than across from cj to BuyAt.
I've kept the student barclaycard unless anyone is aware of an alternative?
I'd swap accucard to Buyat if there was a suitable button graphic but the T&Cs don't allow changing graphics, so that's still on cj...

The more th>n is done and accucard should be along shortly.. methinks

AFAIK, Barclaycard is the most actively marketed to students. Most current accounts will offer an interest free overdraft + when that 'runs out', you can apply for their un-interest free credit cards.

I think MBNA and Capital One also accept applications from students. I've seen one student based website trying to push Amex Blue - they need to get real!
