A little problem which I'm sure lot's of others have encountered so I figure there must be an easy solution!

    I have two email lists.

These can be exported into text files, csv format or whatever.

I want to remove all email records from file A that might also appear in file B.

Can't find a quick and easy solution!

Anyone know of any scripts or sexy little excel macros to take care of this for me (it will need to be able to handle processing of tens of thousands of records!)?

    Cheers

    - Neil

MailThemPro has a remove duplicate option that should work.

Or you can merge the two files say in excel, import into access and run an SQL query on it that basically sorts it alphabetically and just deletes records if they are the same as the previous.

Theres probably an easier way but thats how I'd do it

I user Excel to do this. Within 1 file, I have 2 worksheets - the first with List A, the second with List B. I then use a lookup and see if an item in List A appears in List B. If it does, then in List B, it puts a '1' in the next column.

Once its finished, any email address with 1 next to it, means it appears in both lists. Next I sort this column in ascending order so all duplicates appear after each other - then delete them all!

I use this method to remove bounced emails.

Im sure there are easier and quicker ways, but this works for me so far.

One way - if you just want a list of de-duped emails and don't need to keep related fields is: -
    • Get the emails into Excel as one long list (paste file B after file A)
    • Insert a row at the top and enter EMAIL in A1
    • Go to Data -> Filter -> Advanced Filter
    • Check 'Unique Records Only' and OK
    • List should be cleaned now
