Just wondering how many merchants/affiliates/other networks read all the newsletters that everyone sends out and how much attention people pay to them.

Obviously I'm in the middle of todays Awin newletter and am interested in what sort of reach it has and what peoples opinions of it are, but i open it up to the floor and generalise in the poll about all ASPs - do you read the newsletters we all write?

I read them, but only when I actually receive them...

Haven't had an AWIN newsletter since 27th August.
Didn't get last week's DGM newsletter either.
Last AF newsletter I had was 5th August (actually had that one twice for some reason)

Only CJ and TD seem to come through regular as clockwork.

Ohhh yes yes yes - Learnt from my mistakes in the past...

I skim through them first, god back and then read the bits that are relevant in depth. The other bits and bobs I will usually read depending what I am up to, what time it is, what I due in the pub etc etc

But yes, I find them pretty valuable, as I do not always get chance to log on to Network Sites every couple of days (no longer a watcher on the stats), and sometime miss out some of the latest news.

Jon - yes I also read those sent out by merchants that I sign up to receive. Ifact from memory I replied to the last one you sent out, or did I? I was meant to I remember that much

I read the ones from TD & DGM quite carefully. I dont think I get one from AW.

The merchant ones I read if they are an important merchant to me.

I have read the NI newsletters, which while very good didnt seem to tell me anything new that I didnt know from reading your posts on this forum. Personally Im not interested in the embeded creative stuff, just want 10 bullet points on whats changed (new products, deleted products, promotions, etc.). Comes into two categories
    - keeping your site up to date / accurate
    - new opportunities to exploit

that's true, it's mainly aimed at people that don't know about these forums though.

Whenever I send a newsletter to GoToMyPC affiliates only about 35% get opened. The percentage was closer to 50% a year ago. Unfortunately many recipients now never see the emails due to spam filters blocking the messages. It's really not possible to get past the spam filters since the newsetter always includes some html and an unsubscribe option.

Glad to see from this poll that most people who open the emails are at least skimming them for information applicable to them. That's very encouraging.

    Hi,

aside from 999GI's comments, what exactly would affiliates like to see in merchant's monthly newsletters? Code for new creative/links? Bestsellers info? New promos? etc etc.

I'm another skim reader, and I'm only looking for info I can use/react to immediately from this format. Personally, I don't want any spiel, I want to know what's changed, commission, new product, promo, etc. and if it's relevant to me I'll do something about it.

The merchant emails vary dramatically in their ability to tell me what I might need to know and I've previously missed a few opportunities because I got bored before they got to the point. But then, I do have the attention span of a gnat

    Personally, I would like to see;
    - best selling product lines

    Hi guys

As the composer of DGM's weekly newsletter I try to keep the weight and length of the email down to a minimum. This is why important issues such as new material, suspended programs etc. are on separate pages with originating links from the newsletter.

If any of you guys have any feedback/suggestions on how we can improve the layout or articles included please feel free to email me james@dealgroupmedia.com.

BTW if for any reason you do not receive your weekly newsletter then it can be viewed online by clicking on the following http://www.ukaffiliates.com/newsarchive.cfm

    Kind regards,

I don't think that's cheeky at all. Particularly now this forum is 'fully moderated' (i.e. any libelous, etc, comments removed), there's no reason at all, in my mind, why any network or merchant shouldn't mention this forum. It is, afterall, pretty much the centre of this great industry we work in
    Cheers, Darren
