mods:- is there any chance of creating a Wordpress sub-forum please?

    --

I'm beginning to notice a bit of a backlash against the 'All In One SEO Pack' Wordpress plugin

    eg. Wordpress support forum

According to this post Dreamhost even forbids the use of it (not that I use Dreamhost, but it's interesting a webhost would specifically 'ban' a WP plugin)

Should I be using it on my sites? Do you?

The download stats suggest it's still wildly popular:

    Download History
    Today 1,487
    Yesterday 4,293
    Last Week 30,648
    All Time 4,383,449

I'm trying to cut down on the number of plugins I use on my WP sites... what are your experiences with it?

There is nothing wrong with aioseop, dreamhost are the company who asked their clients to ban googlebot from their sites a few years ago, dreamhost are the problem not aioseop.

The plugin works fine, does what it says, although, you could write the seo functions into your header file quite easily, for most people, that's not an option. It's a necessary plugin.

If you haven't come across Headspace then I would have a look at that too.

Aioseop has never given me or my clients any issues though.

I used this plug-in a week ago and I'm not really amazed of what it can do. I think it brought some negative effects with my seo campaign. I'm not certain about this but I think it made indexing and caching slow. I took it out and everything came back to normal.

Can I just ask what this plugin does?

I was under the impression that it helped with meta description, keywords etc

Do these have to be manually filled out on each new posting page? - I see the all in one boxes at the bottom and they are empty so does that mean I have to fill it out each and every time i make a post?

    Thanks in advance.

i just got told by the techie at my virtual server that AllinoneSEO was to blame for affecting the load on their servers. apparently wordpress is good enough (For SEO) without it, and TBH, on this particular site (a massive niche site) i only filled out the main section, ignoring the section to fill out under each post and it still ranks well.

    any experts got any thoughts?

Yes you do have to fill it out for each post - which can be a little annoying if you're creating a lot of new posts in a day, but I'd say it's worthwhile. It's my favourite Wordpress plugin and I think it has certainly contributed towards my high rankings for many niche searches. It mostly helps with the meta description and keywords by giving you easy access to edit them and the description you write is displayed on the search results page.

I think the page title option is the most important as you can optimise it so easily through the plugin. Being able to quickly and easily get my main keywords into the description and title has helped me beat bigger competitors on their product names in Google so it does everything I need it to do!

Do you know what was causing the load? We have it a number of sites with no problems. If your worried about WP loading your server try a cache to reduce the database calls.

It's a good plug-in. You can add your own title, description and keywords in every post and page your have on your site.
