If you can afford to pay 10% on a day cookie then why not 10% on a 30/60/9999 day cookie?
Oh, and I don't think any of the links in the main body of your page work, such as the TOP SEARCHES or 2004 Calendars etc unless it's just me...

Why don't you allow affiliates the choice instead of picking one for them, it can be done like that you know.
Also I think it's a tad unfair to say we have this and that without providing details on how your average customer is buying at present. For example do most people buy same day, or do most take weeks to think about it, people who do buy do they renew every month and keep it for 5 years. You get my drift. All options could be good (accept the 1p a click) just depending on what's on offer and how people buy your product.
So what product you selling, you got me exited now, seen some of your other stuff![]()
This sounds exciting. I would personally prefer to see low prices and a reasonable % commission which would ensure my visitors got a bargain whilst I made a wee steady profit.
As for the pages I am having a nightmare with my host, Monday they installed mod_rewrite support, FANTASTIC I thought, added a load of rules, changed all my links, yesterday the [insert rude word of choice] twiddles their server, I got a 500 error, deleting .htaccess this fixed this but b******d up all my new SE friendly links, I am not sure whether to change them back, or wait and see if the host stopps twiddling with settings.Originally posted by Wardy

Any way
paying 10% I may have to rely on non affiliate purchases to boost / make profit, using the high % to attract buyers then all taking chances of when they buy, its a mixed bag.If you can afford to pay 10% on a day cookie then why not 10% on a 30/60/9999 day cookie?
As for the product prices £10 - £14 probable monthly purchases by same people, already some competition, no affiliate programs with current merchants though.
Unsure on the click to buy period, will have to investigate...

Ok cool, so if the customer on average keeps buying say 7 months or more then 2% a month is better than 10% one off. However here is your dilemma, some affiliates want a quick hit, i.e. commission now and what the customer is doing later they don't care about, where as others like stead income streams. It may be a wise move to offer the choice, plus it helps if the affiliate is presented with real stats to make that choice.Originally posted by scifind

Would one of the smaller networks support a range of revenue options?
I would consider networks that just want a %cut rather than TD etc who charge up front, or I might go it alone. I am sure the network option would be favoured by all though.

Yes Paid On Results has it.
Natural Instinct was going to be the first merchant to use it. They would have had 15%, 90-day cookie or 10%, 999-day cookie and customer base. In the end up they just went for 1 commission level for all sales (15%, 999-day cookie and customer base). The great thing about it is, as an affiliate you can pick whatever level you want to be on, and even if you change your mind down the line you can swap to the other system without having to update any of your links. In future I expect more merchants to take advantage of this set-up and it will allow the affiliates to pick commission set-up that suits how they do business.
