Complete newbie to wordpress and i know there will be a lot of plugins that will be of great use but there are so many....

Can you give me your list of plugins you recommend for a brand new site with nothing dowloaded as yet?? (ie...i know there is one for a all in one seo pack but is there a particular one thats best?)

There is one particular plugin widget im after which is to create like a gallery of pictures that link to certain pages. Its mainly for the home page i want maybe pictures of the brands logos i do so its nice and clear as a naviagtion tool....but also use same or similar widget to display standar pictures here and there throught my site.
